35 Lightning Classic deck in water today
I finally got my 2000 (new to me) 35 Lightning Classic Deck in the water today. It was a perfect day at Marina Del Rey (Los Angeles, CA) about 70 degrees and the water was pretty flat. The boat handled well and I had a lot of fun. Only got up to 4000 rpm, the gps wasn't working, but it felt like it was running at a good clip. I will take it out again tomorrow and run it a little harder. There is a bilge pump under the step inside the cabin, what is that for and how do you turn it on?
Do the foreward bilges drain to the rear bilge? I will try to post a picture. The boat will be re-named "Kahn Job". I am really happy with the new aluminum trailer that Pacific trailers built for me. David Kahn :D |

Fountains are so fast (pic1) even the prop wash can't keep up :evilb:
Looks great, you'll love the boat. No high speed turns! :D |

Nice trailer. Who built it? I like the ladder--assume its removable. ??

I noticed also the trailer! steel trailer painted silver/ chrome ?
Ladder on right side and a single post on the left, these 2 things must be very usefull. You got a nice looking beak! |
Re: 35 Lightning Classic deck in water today
That "bilge pump" should be the water pump for the sink system. You should have a holding tank in the engine compartment and if you want to use the sink, you throw the switch that powers that pump. Congrats on the boat!

Re: 35 Lightning Classic deck in water today
in my formula, I also have a bilge pump under the step but it is in fact to exit water from the front cause the front is not draining to the back...

Re: 35 Lightning Classic deck in water today
The front bilge pump is just that, a bilge pump for the front. It should have a float or some type of automatic water detector. Mine didn't have no dash switch to operate manually, but I have since removed it all together. The front is independent from the engine bilge, no transfering of water from front to the rear. I have read where the front has to be sealed off from the engine bilge to prevent fumes from entering the cabin, hence a separate pump.
The pump for the sink is more than likely mounted under the cabinet. At least that's where mine is. |
