Is There a signifigant difference ??
Is there any difference is there between the bottom of a 98 42x and the newer versions?
What kind of speed would you exspect to see with the 525sc? Are there some upgrades for the engines? I would suspect a super chiller might work? Anything else? Suggestions? I think maybe we have found a winner, Thank you all for any and all input. Positive or negative please. MP |
Re: Is There a signifigant difference ??
A friend has '98, I think. Small steps, 42 Lightning with stock triple 525SC's. 93mph

small problem....
someone forgot the third engine....this is a twin setup,
i would think .....80-82???? what would this cost to insure??? i figure, 5th boat @ 1000-1500. no layup ? Thank you for any help. |
Re: Is There a signifigant difference ??
Small steps- with staggard 525scs would be around 80-82depending on load. Big steps( 1998 and newer with same power would be 84-85mph. A littler more efficient bottom. Those 525scs are a strong package.

Oh almost forgot- add superchiller intercoolers on those Weiand 177s and you run 90. Pretty amazing out of a 454. Need to raise the hatch though

Actually those 525sc's are real weak getting on plane. Same boat with HP500's will run better.

The pair I had were very impressive with the chillers and boost bumped up to 7 lbs. Very strong all the way thru the RPM range, and brain dead reliable. Six seasons of nothing but oil, filters and seasonal plug changes. |
