42 Poker Run
I've always been a cat guy, but with all the bs going on with them right now what do you guys think of the 42 Poker Run boat? Say with either the 600's or with big power. How does the boat handle, etc.? Resale in 2 or 3 years.

Re: 42 Poker Run
I have only seen 1 and the quality was just not there. This is definately a single purpose boat. 4 people including yourself and visibility aint too good. Definately an interesting piece though - I like the lines. I have heard that fountain is going to discontinue it. 3 42s in the line up is a little too many.

Re: 42 Poker Run
They havn't built many at all. I'd say resale isn't that good since not alot of people want them. It has a great hull, but the fit and finish is no where near as good as the Gladiators, ZR's, and GTX's. The boat should handle pretty well though.

Re: 42 Poker Run
I had noticed that there isn't many out there as well. And some of the ones that are, are at the dealers still. I'd like some input on the 35 to 42' range that would make a nice boat, along with speed, with the same power that I mentioned above. What about a lightning?

Re: 42 Poker Run
To me the best Fountain is the 42 Lightning or Executioner. All the other Foutnain's are small for their size range. The 42 is a real boat size wise. The boat would be great with 700's or larger and #6's for some speed. The hull is one of the best on the market. The only thing is in big water you have to run fast to get up on top of the waves to have a better ride. I've also noticed that the bow doesn't like to lift going through a wave at slower speeds. Why do want a Vee after owning a Cat???

Re: 42 Poker Run
I think the high end cats have gotten out of hand in pricing. I don't think that they are offering any more for a whole lot more money. I have owned several cats and without naming names I have finally gotten tired of the constant price increases(huge). And after so long, you finally say to heck with it,and that's being nice. Enough of that, what do you think of the 38? And will it accept big power?

Re: 42 Poker Run
Bad ass boat!

Re: 42 Poker Run
That's top of the line Fountain right there!!! The 38 with 700's and 6's does around 112 I believe. I dont know of any other's out there running faster than that in a 38's. Are you just looking for a Fountain or ????

Re: 42 Poker Run
I'm looking for a decent boat for something other than ridiculous(sp) money written all over it. I was thinking Fountain 'cause brand name and pricing. And speed is also a factor.

DRIVEN1, if that was a 38 or 42 we would be talking. Sharp boat, no doubt. I really didn't want 3 mo mo's. Shoot me a pm and tell me what the bottom line is. For the right price, I guess I could be talked into it
don't be skeered of three engines, 1 fails you will still get home faster:cool: |

Re: 42 Poker Run
I've spent some time in the PR boats. A few of them. Really fun, but as stated, very specialized. The statement of the quality not being there is false. It's the finish that could be better

I believe this is the same boat while it was owned by Shogren. He ran it at the Chicago Poker Run in 05. It was a crowd pleaser.
