opening hatch with a bad actuator

Anyone ever faced with this? No problem here, just thinking ahead. I don't see any way in w/o doing some damage. Thnking about modifying my actuator to fit a free slip collar on it that many other brands use, but thinking my actautor is to tall.

never had any trouble with the actuator on my old Baja , and my 35 has 2 hatches so im good to go.

I have removable hinge pins on the back of my hatch on my 32 fever.....easy to remove the hinge pins and still get into the engine compartment if you have to.

I remove the pins once and see what would happen. The actuator held the hatch down so tight I could only lift the rear an inch or 2 at most w/o fear of busting the hatch covering. Not sure if it would slide back enough to reach in and unbolt the ram mount??

you could replace the ram assembly as a form of preventative maintenence........I do that in my biz sometimes.

looks like your going to have to make up some one off trick piece:drink:

Some boats have a pin with a wire attached instead of the bolt at the top. Secure the wire behind one of the side vents, if it fails, you remove the vent, pull the wire, pin comes loose, hatch opens.

remove the two rear pins ,slid hatch forward and it leaves you enough room to remove the top bolt, had to do that this summer only took about 30 minutes to do good luck

The ram holds the hatch forward, so it can't slide back. dang, thought I was on something.:) BTW, this is not a problem right now, just thinking 'What If'

My side vents are part of the boat, not a bolt on item.Only way they'll come off is with a sawzall.
My preveious boat had the pin and wire setup. Pretty slick thinking, but the pin always rotated under normal use and the release pin was always going the wrong direction.

You know it Doug! The wheels are spinning now. :)
