Cockpit Interior......WOW
I have a 99 42' Lightning that needed to have the interior replaced.................Fountain wanted about 25k to get it done through the factory! Double R Performance (where my boat is) recommended a local canvas guy that has done work for them so I went with it......... I went with totally white as I figured it was never going to look like factory again and if I tried embroidery etc. for sure it was going to look like crap.............WELL, yesterday I had to go to Double R to drop off the snowmobile and my boat was there so went in and had a look..................WOW the interior is done and I swear that nobody would be able to tell that it is not factory, even my fiance said she couldn't believe how good it looks................ I can't be happier....also a 1/4 of the cost......:drink:

Take care; Jay |
whoa......looks good Jay......right down to all the little pleats........a Fountain interior is not easy to duplicate........how is the grade of the material compared to a stock Fountain???
|
When I say you wouldn't know the difference I mean right to the material, it is the same as Fountain. Talked to Bruce at Cummins and he orders the exact material used for the exact year, they have changed about three times since 1996 til 2004 or something. It is the same as Fountain................:drink:

does he work out of Ray's shop??
|
Very nice! It's few and far between seeing interiors redone that fit and look as good as original. Usually the corners are loose and the material not stretched snug.
Did you also have the side panels done? A buddy was going to have his 42' done this winter, but is doing motor rebuilds instead. I'll forward this to him. |
DOUG - He has a shop just north of Orillia and does it all there, however he goes to the boat to take interior out and put it back in, didn't have to move the boat around which is really nice too.
US1 - the side panels were done as well, what you say about it fitting was exactly what I worried about, that was one of the most impressive parts. |
that looks really great. how long did it take to do the work?
|
looks great:cool:

looks good...we have the same speaker covers
|
can either one of you tell me what the make of the covers are and can you get them in blue?
|
tomtbone1993 - yes we do have the same speaker covers........
itlldo - didn't pressure him on time to get done as I am not using the boat til summer.(damn winters) but to give you an idea, they took the interior out first week of December, then were on holidays til firts week of Jan and they put the interior in mid last week, so not ot bad. ALLIN - are you speaking of a cockpit cover or full mooring cover? I am getting a new cockpit cover made too........it is going to be purple and not snap onto the top of the windshield like normal but the snap are at the base so it will cover the glass too........... |
no i was talking about speaker covers.
|
looks good, but if you look you can see a few things. $ for $ it looks like you got a good deal.

tomtbone,
I understand completly. I got engaged in 2000, sold my 47 lightning , bought a ring ,a house, cars etc and got out of boating until 2004. Before that I was living the carefree bachelor life and then decided to get married. Now I have been working my way back up ythe Fountain ladder lately. Good Luck!! You are making the right choice.
