Water pressure
 

Guys,

Where are the water pressure sensors located on a 500hp? My port water pressure gauge quit registering after we got stuck in mud Saturday. I assume its just plugged but need to know where to start backflushing.

Lower block drains right above the oil pan flange. 1 of them is usually used for the WP hose connection. If you filled the block with mud, plugging the WP hose, be sure you fill,drain, and flush the block.

Also check that the seawater pump and coolers aren't plugged, starving the motor giving you a no WP reading.

Sea water pump was shot. I back-flushed everything, replaced the pump, and ran the boat all day Sunday. The oil temperature, pressure and water temps were all right on the money, just no water pressure. I suspect it is plugged, just needed to know where to look. Hopefully, it's on the port side of the port engine (so I can get to it!). I wll remove and check for mud...

if you can, remove the 1/4" pipe fitting from the block. then start the engine, and while its runing use a rod or small length of steel cable( from an old throttle/ shift cable or a coat hanger or piece of flexible stainless rod) and poke the the hole andrach in with said rod and attempt to remove any of the extra debri. since its running it will clear itself. just be prepared to get a lil wet.

you may also have to remove the hose from the back of the gauge at the dash, and blow thru it to un clog. compressed air works well.

On a 27 Fever that I used to have, the hose from the block to the gauge was blocked with sand and small pebbles, at the end near the block. Had to use a coat hanger to get the stuff loosened up and got some out of the hose using air pressure and a little water, applied from the gauge end of the hose. It was packed in there pretty hard! Once I got it to the point where some water would pass thru, I reconnected the end of the hose at the block and left the end from the gauge disconnected - stuck that end in a bucket, and ran the boat down the lake a couple of times. That cleared the hose!
