1997 38 Fever

Anyone on the BOARD have one? If so, what do you know? What do they weigh and what power are you running? What kind of performance do you see? Will it run with 502 Mag MPI's or will I be sad- I am looking to move up . . . thanks for any info.:drink:

1999 38 Fever. 500hps half gas- 78 to 80. Maybe a couple mph better if my power wasnt so tired. They are due. 26p hydro 4 blades. YOur boat should run 74-75 with those motors. Good boat. its very solid and handles great.

Thanks for the info. I am in an old, slow 311, so 74mph is hauling the mail to me. Had been looking at the 42- but the 38 seems like a good fit for what I am trying to do.

i have a 1995 38 fever with merc 600's imco drives and 30 pitch bravo 1's ....runs about 86.6 on gps........still tryin diffrent props

I own a 1998 38 fever with 500s and run 77 with some tacky 27p hydros still learning the boat. handles like a dream.haveing trouble docking 'use to single motors'.wouldnt run anything else. :D

Docking a twin is soooo much better than a single, Brian. Once you get the hang of it you won't believe you ever got a single backed into a slip. I am a little put off by the "no walk around" situation. My boat and my pop's 35 Lightning (or do I have this backazzwards?- fever no walk, lightning walk, right?) both have them and it is super handy . . . and avoids unfortunate windscreen breakage . . . .

Are the 600sc's rated at the crank or prop? They are 550hp, correct? If so, that is a pretty well dialed in set-up?

Fever no walkaround but more room in the cockpit to party. I have a race fairing on my 38 so it is a little better jumping over. My 102lb girlfriend is in charge of the bow duties though not me.

run a fever with the 27s i can hit 5400 rpms wont i over rev with 26s ?????? will have to do a lot of practicing on docking thanks

runafever 06-20-2007 08:45 AM

You shouldnt be hitting 5400 with the 27s on a 500hp boat. unless your props have had some work at some point. My boat will spin a set of 27s at 5000 during the summer and 5200 during the cool season. my 26s will turn 5300 to the limiter consistently which is right.

razor1115 06-22-2007 10:06 AM

Keep us posted... if it quits raining here, I am going to get some GPS speeds this weekend. There is another 35' with same set-up that is running 89.6mph. That's pretty stout. He was running labbed 28" Hydros.

fountainguy214 06-22-2007 11:39 AM

i just got those hydro 5 blade 29 pitch yesterday and goin to try them wen i get then port motor bak toghether.....the last guy that had the boat burned up and impeller and didnt get alll the little rubber peices out the water system .......so i lost water pressure at the royal purple and ran hot .......took apart and the power steering cooler was completely clogged with sea weed and impeller parts so i flushed it all out with hoes and got all the peices of the impeller out .......still waiting for a new feul pump and will be back out on the water ........ will try the hydro's and will let you know the outcome :evilb:

fountainguy214 06-29-2007 06:15 PM

Well yall wanted to be posted so here it is......with 5 blade 29 pitch hydro's i lost mid range and the was way loose .....it felt like there was no control... b/c it lifted the stern alot.....so might have gained top end but dont boat feels too lite to run them .....so goin bak to the 30's and or trying spinning the 5 blade 29's out instead of in
