Cockpit cover?

I just recentely bought an 88 33, for older 10 meter. Boat is in excellent shape, new motors, interior everything. The only thing that I hate is the cockpit cover. It is not waterproof. When it rains the cockpit gets drenched. I was wondering if anyone knew how to maybe waterproof one, or if I just have to buy a new one thats no big deal. Can you buy them premade off the internet, or do I just have to have it made local? If local does anyone know of any good people near Kansas city? Thanks

For the price of getting one made just go to a local shop and get it done new. I dont live in the area, sorry I cant help with a suggestion.
Good luck and congrats on the new purchase.

Clean it off the best you can, then spray a bunch of canvas waterproofer on it. You can buy the waterproofer at any marine supply store. You'll need to lay it on thick, until the canvas looks wet with the waterproofer, and it'll take a few bottles.

Or just use thompsons water seal. I hear that works great, but i'd be a little worried about making the canvas stiff.

Clean it with water then waterproof it using the marine waterproofing product. We have friends that did this to theirs every two years. It will last at least the season.

If that doesn't work....time for a new cover. :(

Hey Hoostie - welcome to the board and congrats on the Fountain. Throw some pics up, so we can see what you found.

For a new cockpit cover you can try Bud Stack Upohlstery on Merriam Dr. They did a cockpit and bow cover for an old Baja I had years ago and did a great job. Cost back then was around $17 per foot of covered area. Another place to try is Turner Upohlstery in OP. Probably a little more expensive, but they do nice work.

Since it already has a cover (pattern), the new one would be a cinch.

Do you boat around KC or take it down to LOTO?

I will get some pics up after the weekend. I have heard a couple people suggest stacks so I might try looking them up next week. I like to go to the ozarks when I can, but it also goes to perry.

I would just buy a new cover....then you wont have to worry about any water getting in
