Swim ladder -- 42 Ex

I just purchased a 42 Ex and noticed it did not have a swim ladder. This is a must for my wife. Any advice on an after market folding type? I looked at a few in the usual marine catalogs and nothing looked like it would work.

I think it might be time to add a ladder to my 35. My wife doesn't like stepping on the drives, either.

That ladder looks like it would work great. How does it install? Is it thru-bolted, screwed,or are there expansion type nuts. I don't think there is access to the swim platform from the inside.

I have the same ladder/ bracket at Downtown42... it rocks.
It stores in the bilge or cuddy,. and if you forget to lock the tabs in when using it, it floats to the surface. Carder

Do you have anymore pics of the bracket and how it mounts?

I do that! Its actually putting pressure on it from the other direction, the water tries to push it up and my 240 lbs. tries to push it down. Do you think it damages the tab to step on it?

There is just no down side to this ladder they give you the measurements hold it up there mark the holes drill them, then put this blind nut in the hole and they give you an expansion tool a little 5200 arond the blind nuts then bolt the ladder to it there is no storage it kickes up after you step on it I have had 280lbs on it with no problem

Thanks, that looks like a winner. Hopefully the boat will be delivered this week and I can get to work on a few of these projects. I think you can order it from their website.

Which part number Aquastep did you order White Lightning?

Jackhammer:cool:

Rebel_Heart 07-10-2007 10:52 PM

I clicked on Aquastep site, which model is best? I was looking at the double step for just under $300.

Did you buy that white 42 from Marine Max?

35 White Lightning 07-11-2007 08:18 AM

Aquastep

If you e-mail this lady and give her the year and model of Fountain she can sugest the right step, I think they come either powercoated white or stainless
You can give them a CC right from their website

No, I bought it from Shogren's in Waukegan Illinois. Keep an eye out for it, we are at Endevour Marina in Clear Lake.Should have it by the end of this week or beginning of next.

Factory installed. I'll get more pix.

Roger Perkins 07-11-2007 12:00 PM

Just a note on the Aquastep, go with the stainless and not the white powdercoat, the white seems to attract any dirt or exhaust soot, real pita to scrub every time:(

How does this ladder fasten while underway or does it stay up by spring tension? It seems it might slam under the swim step if you're hitting waves hard.

GCAT911 07-15-2007 11:06 AM

The late model 35EX has no ladder or anchor locker.
