27 Fountain with Blown 540 BullBog
 

Im looking at a fountain with a 540 bull dog with a blower on it. Its in the oso classifieds for 32000. Is this a good deal, worth the money, speed, ride, handle, hull material, I havew a 93 26 Tbred with ablown 509 i do around 82 with it now but always liked the founatin and design. Last is how about interior spacious as my t better worse looking for some in sight

I'd be concerned with the fact that it is a blower motor. They don't last as long as an N/A motor for obvious reasons. I'd have that motor checked out throughly, leakdown, comp test and all.

Check that motor out real good and have fun. If it is a single step, watch out for the slight wiggle at around 70....just blow on through it.

Those are two of the boats that I considered in 1993 - 27 Fountain and a 26 Thoroughbred. I purchased the Fountain. Jim V on the board has a very fast 27, with an extension box - no step. I don't think that I had mine set up correctly, I got a lot of chime walk at 80.

I've got a blown 509 in a 27. The first stepped 27 fountain made. There is definetly no blowing on through it - Im still walking around at 92 - with steel heads and just 3 lbs of boost and the timing at 27 degrees that is hauling tail. They are definetly fun boats but you will get you butt kicked on a ruff day.

540 bulldogs are great motors. I was told that they were built for military applications at some time. I could be wrong though. I would love to get my hands on one. That boat with that motor should be a lot of fun on smooth water!

Really.....i certainly am no place close to that speed, but I was under the impression that the wiggle at 70ish passes. It must come back in the 80's, near the hulls physical limit? Yes, this boat will kick your azz in the rough stuff. But you learn to drive through and around it. It is what it is.....a 25' fountain with some overhang.

tblrklakemo- I just jumped in this thread as I am currently looking at a couple 27 Fevers and wondered about the ride. Are you going to be out this coming weekend at Table Rock. I am heading down there on Thursday night and will be on the water Friday and Saturday.

We certainly plan on it.
