How many BTU for 35 Lightning

How many BTU's are needed for adequately cooling the cabin of a 35 Lightning. I would like to be able to cool off the cabin in the middle of a hot summer's day.

I am exploring options. I found several self contained units that offer several BTU choices.

As little as 5000 will likely do, there are no windows and the cabin is not that big. I had a 40 that had 12000 btu and it would cool down to 70 in about 15 minutes. I have seen 35 and 38's with 5000 btu hatch units cool to 65 degrees. If you are buidling in go 8 and you should be fine.

I have a 6500 in my 32. Will freeze my azz off.

Going too big is not ideal, nor recommended. Cycles on and off to much.

My slip neighbor is also running the same 6500 unit in his 35 Cafe. No problem either.

We both used the 5000 Btu Cruisar hatch air up till this yr when we installed the perm. units. Again, both were more than enough.

Big difference from a 35 cruiser and a 35 Fountain. Don't go by the boat lenght recommendations.

How are you guys running the ac? Do you have generators? Or do you use a shore power unit while at the dock? Or do you have an inverter with two deep cycle 12 volt batteries so you can use while running?

I have heard that there are several options. I would like to install a system that can be used while running as well as while parked.

Mack, have you seen this? Local boat, seen it on the river several times, it looks sharp.

I wish I could afford it. That is about double what I want to spend!

I wonder what kind of trucking company he owns? I must be hauling the wrong things!!!!
