water pressure/computer?
I have a 2000, 32' fever twin 502's what should my water pressure be @ wot 4800rpm? If a motor has a water pump failure and motor gets warm and sets off alarms does boat go into gaurdian mode? what things in this year will set computer into gaurdian mode/retard timing, and do they reset if there is no problem detected?

Water pressure should be 23-25 lbs, You may not have guardian mode on your motors. Smart craft motors have that, like 496 and 525. Need to know exact model you have.

my mistake not gaurdain mode, but there are some fault codes that can retard the timing.

I also have a 2000 32 with 502's and I see 30 psi at 5200 rpm, but I laso have stainless marine exhaust installed.
The computer will record alarm signals so you can view them with a scan tool but it will not go into any kind reduced power mode. Just make sure you shut it down if an alarm sounds. Jeff |

10 is pushing it. 15 - 20 is optimal. fresh water cooled engines need more due to the requirements of the new system monitoring. the 500's are fine at 20, which is target pressure.

On my 35L with 496S at 4000rpm the water pressure is 20psi.
4000+ it goes up to 25-28psi. However at idle it less then 5psi. You are right, if it falls below minimums it does trip a major engine alarm. The engine alarm sys trips alarms for low drive fluid, oil press, water temp, low raw water press, engine overspeed and exhaust manifold temp. |
water pressure
i just put a new drive on my 27fever.it has a lowwater, and a regular pickup.my old one just had the regular style.old pick-up was around 20-25.now w/the new drive it is around 25-30.at wot,it is 35.i have talked to the factory.they say thats a good thing.it still bothers me though.....no cooling woes.brad

I'm in the same boat with GCAT911. Real low pressure at idle, less than 5 lbs and in the high teens low 20's running. I was told by Fountain this is within spec since the closed cooling motors don't require as much raw water pressure. I'm sure the reading is taken directly off of the raw water pump for my 496's.
You raw cooled guys it needs to be higher. I would imagine your H20 pressures are pulled from block pressure. |
