Trouble with outdrive!
when put in drive I get a steady knockin sound and lost my reverse. Any thoughts on wht th problem might be?
|
Knocking outdrive usually means broken gear. Check fluid for metal on drain plug magnets. Good Luck

Yeah, you are definitely broke. Probably the upper gear set, gear floor, and/or clutch/shift assembly.

anything thing that knocks will not be cheap.
i wish you the best. |
Check all the above, however before you go pull the drive apart check your shift cable and make sure it is functioning correctly, it could be just out of alignment. It took three merc mecanics to figure that out on my Fever after two years.:p

we had a knocking noise in a bravo 3 that turned out to be a loose carrier retainer.

This is prolly a dumb question but the only way to get in th outdrive is to take it off? next question will I need an alinment tool to put back on?
|
answer , yes.
this way you can check engine alignment, and make sure you are not off. |
I think I better take it to a professional. You know I dont drive hard keep maintence up and then get treated like this but thats the graet life of boating
