08 35 Lightning with 600's
I see on Shogrens web site, www.chicagofountain.com, he has an 08 35 Lightning with 600's, I wonder how much faster it runs than the 525 boats, if any. Got to be an awsome package.
|
Scott also has an 07 35 with 600's and in one of the pictures, it shows the Smartcraft display showing a peak speed of 107mph.
I've heard mixed opinions on the 600's power package because of the XR drives. Supposedly the XR drives are rated up to 600hp and the 600sci motors put the drives right at the limit. Some of the dealers I spoke with regarding the 600 power package for a 38 Lightning recommended staying with the 525's or going for the 700's. |
Our 06 38 had 600's/Bravo drives. We did experience one drive issue under warrenty. That was with about 20 hrs on it and think it was the exception, not the rule. If I was considering the boat, wouldnt worry about 600's and Bravos in a 35. Had a 2000 35 Lightning with whippled 540's making upwards of 725 hp. Ran Bravos for 100 hrs with no problems. Did I worry about them....yep constantly. But they never let me down. Still think the acceleration of the 600's would be very good.

Good to know. Thanks Beak. How many hours did you put on your 38' with 600's?
|
It had 62 hrs when we traded it for the 38/700 boat. Went to Shogrens in Chicago, who ever bought it got a very nice boat. I always thought the 600's were overated to protect the drives. Never saw any dyno numbers to back that up. I think the 700's are a little stronger than rated. They are both nice motor drive combinations.

Not surprising, Scott, Greg, and Bruce, do a fantastic job, of taking care of their customers. That and their ability to take trades, make them Fountains #1 dealer. Did I mention integrity, their is no lack of that their either!!!:D:D

What would the price deference be between the 700's over the 600's????????
$$$$$$$ |
Dont know much about the price difference. Im sure the 600's are less, because they are only mated to a Bravo drive. The 700's come as a complete package unless Mercury started parting them out. When you add the NXT gimbal, drive and the transmission, Im sure the 700's are alot more expensive.

$$$$$$$ A 700 boat would come w/ NXT's which you know Reggie won't run requiring them to be updraded to #6's & more $$. I didn't really answer your question but thats what I know to date. |

4 People & Fuel w / 525's 96-101 4 People & Fuel w / 600's 100-104 There has been quite a bot of testing with ITS as of late and it seems to be increasing the loaded (weight) top speed by 4mph. 600's are 12mph faster in the mid range, that's where you see the biggest difference. The 600 boat parks the 525 boat in mid range. FPB won't put 700, NXT Transom Assembly and 6 on a 35 because of weight. That is of course unless you had to have it and were willing to pay. Shave the 600 pulley, raise the boost, of course after warranty. We are currently building a a 38 with 1075's. The last 42 I drove with 1075's ran 137. I can only imagine what a beast this 38 will be if you can drive it. Randy, your 2006 38 600 boat is most likely coming back on trade for a new 38 with 700's. Whoever gets it next will be very happy with it. Hope this helps answer the questions. Regards, Scott Shogren www.chicagofountain.com |

Uh-oh.....why did you have to go and tell me that. Not really, love my 38/700 boat. But I did wonder about a 38 with 850's. Will they have to modify the interior to fit the 1075's because of the bigger transmission. Scott you guys just keep pushing the envelope. |
