Aqua Performance Boarding Ladder

I am installing an Aqua Performance boarding ladder on my 1997 35' Lightning. The front of the ladder is hitting the Latham steering hydrualic ram.

How have you installed this ladder on similar boats?

Joel

I just finished installing one on my 2005 42'Fountain Ex. I installed it an the left side as you are looking at the stern, centered between the left drive and the tab. I brought it all the way to the edge of the swim platform. It pulls down perfectly between the drive and the tab. It worked real well on my boat. I would recommend the Aqua Step.

Thank you for your reply. I am installing the same step in about the same place...wonder if the swimplatform on a 42 is deeper then a 35? I plan to call Elba Monday and see if maybe they have a ladder a little shorter that will not extend quite so far forward.

Elba was great. They supplied the ladder to a customer around the Chicago area and he installed it and gave them the feedback on how and where it should be installed. They then adjusted a detailed instruction sheet to fit the 42 EX and sent the ladder to me. It worked perfect. I know they have different ladder set-ups for different applications. Mine is basically a one step retracting type ladder. It is fairly short. I can't imagine the swim step being less deep on the 35, but it may be. She will work with you to get the right ladder. I used the AVK inserts and filled the drilled holes with 4200.

You're right about Elba...she is great! She is sending me a different length "H-frame" to gain clearance. Once we get the test piece(s) nail down, she will have a new ladder made to fit.

I'd make future purchases from Auqa Marine in a heart beat...it's customer service in cases like this that make all the difference in the world.
