I finally installed the shortys and ran a pair of Hydro P5 29's last weekend, the boat ran 97.4 @5500 in flat water. It handled great, planed off perfect, great acceleration did not blow out through turns. Yesterday I tested the Bravo 32's and the boat ran 96.8 in good choppy water. Boat did not plane off well and the props blew out pretty bad through turns. I have a pair of Hydro Q4 30's to test also but so far the best bang for the buck is the stock lowers and Bravo 32's which handled good but not as good as the P5 shorty combo, I feel like the Bravo 32's could be labbed to get my rpm's up and get me to 100 with the stock lowers. I will test the P5 29's again in some chop to see if I pick up a few mph. Any input from you guys that have been through all this would be appreciated.

Wow! Those are great looking props, Lee! Are you at the rev limiter @ 5500? if not, consider labbing the P5's so you get the best of all worlds, handling and speed. How's the mid range with the 5's vs. the b1s?

Carder,
The mid range is best with the Bravo's and standard lowers, also the boat planed off well and I dont remember it blowing out in turns, mid range is very close with the P5 shorty combo though. I need to run the P5s again in some decent chop to see how much speed it picks up before I make a decision to keep the shorty's and P5's or go back with the Bravo 32 and standard lower combo and put some cash back in the bank. :D

No No - the new Herrings are going for 50 cents a piece - really.

You have an awsome rig - engines/drives looks beautiful - what does the boat look like - congrats.

Thanks! The boat has the classic signature graphics but have I have a local painter that has been working with me on a custom cyclone paint job.

sounds like some one has been playing. congrats. i might expect to see a little more speed. it seems that you didnt pick up much speed by going to shorties. 104 or 106 should be around the mark. i would guess anyways. 33x15 1/4 hydro p5's labed and maybe15 thou of cup and trim the diffuser ring.
this prop on a 1:36 shortie behing an its gimbal an messaged 575's( bouit 700 h.p) runs 109.
check your slip numbers.

good luck

Thanks for the advice, I am a little dissapointed with results so far, considering going back to the standard lowers and Bravo 32's and putting my smaller pulley's on the Whipples, that would have to get me over 100 and put some money back in the bank at the same time! :D

the standard case for height may be feasable but it will blow out the prop so maybe try a set of surface piercing lowers standard length not shorties.
also what rpm does the boost come in?
i know on our set up with whipples we come in around 3800 and we make around 13-14 psi of boost.

the boat ran 98+ with standard length lowers, side water pick ups, nosecones and stock bravo 32,s. I am running thru transom water pickups. have not run the hydro q4 30's yet with either set up. Boost comes in around 4000 and makes 6lbs max. The motors are stock 500 efi's with 160 hrs and maybe 50 with the whipples, I have a pair of smaller pulleys but really dont feel comfortable running them without going through the heads first. where should I go from here?
Thanks!
