Weight of a 32 fever
whats the weight of a 32 fever, yr 1998-2003, with a trailer
|
nobody knows this? can i go with the NADA weight? Im looking to get an 07 or 08 tahoe but want to make sure i can safely and legally tow wth it
|
Take the weight of the boat and add another 2g's...at least. Do yourself a favor and get a 3/4 ton burb or excursion. To be safe.
|
More than what any 1/2 ton truck/SUV can safely handle. Its probably going to be at least 9000 lbs. on a trailer, full of gear, fuel, coolers, tools, etc. Just an example, but my 26' Sonic with a single HP500EFI was 7280 lbs, almost full of fuel on an aluminum tandem trailer. A 32' Fever is 4 more feet of boat (+/- :D), and a second engine/drive/rigging, and bigger fuel tank(s).
Then you add in the weight of your passengers, and all the crap you will have in the Tahoe, and you will be WAY over the capacity of what you are legally and safely able to handle. There are plenty of folks out there towing way more than they legally or safely should be. They are gambling EVERYTHING when they do, as your insurance will likely kiss your ass goodbye in the event of a mishap. Its not worth it. |
I don't know the weight, but I can tell you the tahoe is not going to cut it, unless your only going a mile or two.

i've got a 2004 2500 HD ext cab right now with the 4.10's, 4x4 and the truck doenst even know te boat is there, just recently i decided to keep the boat at a marina in the dry racks, so no more towing unless a poker run or maintance.... i might need a truck 4-5 times a yr, TOPS
my old lady has an acura she wants to get rid of for a tahoe, i was trying to make it work where we got rid of both and her every day driver is a vehical that can tow the boat... my every day driver is a company provided ford explorer, so it just chaps my ass to see that 36k truck i bought new 3 yrs ago sit month in and month out any ideas? |

The Suburban 2500 4x4 is rated at 9300 lbs. towing. You MIGHT just squeak by safely/legally, but I would not bet on it. I don't like the words might and safe in the same sentence. You can't have too much truck; especially not when safety and family are at stake. Unless you have 4 kids, go for the 2500 HD crew cab, or maybe the Dodge MegaCab 2500. |

The "tail wagged the dog" towing my 27' with the Tahoe. I wouldnt feel good about a 32', But I was sitting on 22"s. The short wheel base is great in the city but doesnt help when towing. My .02

NO Don't Do It
Tahoes are to light. Tahoe are still set up with the 4L60E and I have had several friends that have had issues with this tranny. My best friend works for a extended warranty company and he validates claims for the company. He would definitely tell you that the track record of the tranny speaks for it self. Add a 10,000 pound tow rig and you pretty much can plan on a transmission in 100,000. I checked out the 3/4 ton Suburban and it runs a new transmission that is a new six speed ,, in the past the 3/4 trannies have been excellent. However this one is new ,, so no track record yet. Good Luck. PS I tow with a 2001 3/4 burb with a 496. No problems here but I don't tow a fountain, I have a 5,000 pound 21 footer.

Smart Choice. Good looking 32 also. I love the solid white.
|
thats the 29, the 32 will be behind the truck the SECOND this one sells, but that truck pulls it like its not there, and stopping with the trailer brakes and the truck is effortless
