1990 38' Fountain Fever
Pardon my obsessive boat-searching...
but is anyone familiar with this boat at LOTO? I pulled up a bunch of old posts on here but didn't find any particulars. Price seems reasonable on it. Waiting for details. http://www.lakewideyachtbrokerage.com/1626.htm Thanks! :D John |
Seems like a lot of boat with not much motor (relatively speaking of course).
Nice price though! |

Nice price though! Any idea what top speed could be expected from this boat? |
High 60's, maybe 70.
|
good wave crusher......!!
|
Ahhhh, I don't know about 70.........;)
If you were directing that question to me, I would guess closer to low 60's. A poorly set up (newer) 38 Fountain with 502's (Arizona speed kits) will run low 70's. At least, that is what the people we go out with run. |
Wonder what condition the upholstery is really in at this point....?

I was at that place in July, but I was checking out another boat. |

365hp 454 mags and Bravos should push that boat to mid 60's I would think (assuming that everything is in good working order).

Is that a newer Fountain w/ steps? My friend's '99 42' Fountain does 80 with twin 500hp engines. Seems like a newer stepped 38 would get to 80 with the same power. Maybe I'm missing something. Clue me in.
Either way, I'm about 8' shorter with 70 less HP and I run about 62 in perfect conditions. :o Not that the hulls are comparable or anything....... |
i have a 1992 35 with fresh 502's and 75 is the best i have seen. it is going up for sale soon.just need updated pictures.

Keytime, this also validates my point. Also, I was referring to a 95 model fountain.
I'd want a better deal on it if it's borderline under-powered, that's for sure. Leave a little room to invest some hp in it. :cool-smiley-011: |
With that power you would be lucky to see 57 mph on the gps and thats if it had some bravo 24's on it! Im seeing 64 mph on the gps in 2-3 foot swells offshore and i have the 502's with 24's ....
