Price seems too steep, your opinion?

This is my new favorite boat. 496HO, not blue. I will be in the market this time next year for one of the following:
1. 27 fountain, 2001 - 2005 (most expensive, but favorite) 2. 25 Sunsation Aggressor 2004 (maybe too small, but cool) 3. 25 Baja Outlaw 2003 - 2005 (huge freeboard, lot of value for the money) The fountain below is on OSO and listed for 69k. Is is beautiful and perfect, but seems high, your opinion? |
Go 2 feet longer with a 29 Fountain. All around better boat.

When I look at the 27 and the 29, it seems they are identical from the bolsters forward, and just extended the the boat in the rear. To me, the 29 just looks out of balance, but that's just my personal opinion.

But if you are set on a 27 then that looks like a nice one. |

Actually a 29 is better balanced and faster with the same power. 27's can be hard to get on plane with a full fuel and4- 5 passengers. At least mine was, also a 27 has a small fuel tank. Word of caution at 1/4 tank left you better be pulling into the fuel dock. 27's also have some chine walk to them in the mid to upper 70's. I'm not knocking the 27's they are good boats and I enjoyed mine but the 29 is a much superior boat overall for only a few $$ more.
But if you are set on a 27 then that looks like a nice one. Thanks for info! The planning issue is of concern. Ultimately for me it will come down to the deal, Money will talk when the time comes. Thanks everybody! |

I've got a 2005 27 Fever with the shockwave graphics for sale, not listed yet though. It's got 79 hours with a 496HO, nearly every option, same trailer as the one pictured, that i would take 65k for it right now, or i'll be trying to get more in the spring. I can email you pictures if you'd like. I really love my 27 but i'm about to build a new house and then go for a bigger fountain:D

Von Bongo is right. However mine always jumped up on plane but I always bury the tabs just to take it easy on the drive.
It will walk - you are through it at 80 but you have to go back through it when you slow down. IMO - 27 is easier to manage financially for a starter (which is what it was to me) You can still fly below the "insurance radar" - mine is under my homeowners policy. You can tow easily with a Tahoe or similar, and if you get the right power plant you can hang with the big boys. I am all about making noise and going fast - I do not care at all about cockpit room or being able to grill hotdogs. Just my .02. |
