What is an 03 42 Lightning w/575's worth?

My buddy is trying to trade/sell an 03 42 with 70 hours on it. Boat has been lift kept since new by a fanatic Fountain owner since new.

What is real money on this boat right now?

Since no ones said anything, id say 180K-190K.

Seems like the boat market is about as low as the house market. :(

buck fifty

Whoever said 130k is out of their mind. We are all fooled into believing that boats are worth one third to half thier NADA value because of the soft market. The right piece still brings all the dough even in a depressed market. If this boat is a diamond I would say 165-175k. Still a bargain for a 70hr 575 boat when compared to the cst of a new 42 lightning.

But the thing is Fountain changes the bottoms and stuff like every year, so to me the value of the used ones go down. You cant compare an 03 to even an 05, 06, 07 or 08. Reggie likes improving things which is great for new buyers but to me not so good with the used market. my .02

problem is if you hold out on the housing market and it recovers, who cares if your house is 2 years older, it will get a much better price. Not as good an option with performance boats

Really hard to say in the market today. I have been looking at my options and was actually going to buy a 42 Outerlimits but numbers couldn't match bigger truck needed....blah blah blah then started looking at a newer 42 Fountain and the numbers are all over the map. Best deal I came across was an 04 EX with 525's asking 140k with custom paint and trailer.....seemed good to me. On the other hand you can coma across the same boat asking 160k so who knows, it is going to sell to the person that wants THAT specific boat and how bad they want it................just my 2 cents.
