the biggest difference is not the top speed but how long it takes to get there. The 575 will be there while the 525 is getting on plane

I would also check with your insurance co. Even though the H.P. is close. When some companys hear the word Supercharger and boat in the same sentence, it might become more costly.:p

The 575 did pull like a horse, thats for sure! :D Almost forgot about the insurance issue, too. When we moved to Ohio, had to change insurance .... and same company wouldn't cover it! Was going to just about triple, to cover it elsewhere.

Speaking of getting on plane, how are the 525's? I've never been in one of those, do they have a lot of bow rise, and how quick to they plane, using moderate throttle.

If you want to go for an insanely fast and "plant you into the seats" boat ride, Roger has the 29 that will do that ... and he knows how to drive it very well!

Engine life and maintenance schedule on the 575 is much shorter. Figure in the increased cost of this, insurance, and the pain of finding 92 octane on or near the water and I think the few mph faster are not worth it!

Until your passed.

pookie 02-28-2008 08:57 PM

I've never had that feeling.

rcamp 02-28-2008 09:00 PM

If you run a stock 525 against a 575 in similar boat you soon will.

pookie 02-28-2008 09:03 PM

I've been passed many times, I just never have felt that way. I admire the boat and driver's skill and just give a thumbs up. You can always find a faster boat.

Agreed

Thanks for all of the reply's. bob t, it is great to have someone with that much real world testing.
Still working on deals for 525hp and 575SCi's but I'm thinking I like the inclosed cooling as I have that now with my 496HO and just love it. Had Whipple reprogram the ECM and I installed the low temp thermostat, great turn key runs every weekend set-up. My 240ZT Checkmate runs 72-74GPS with this set-up and handles pretty good on the river but wanting to go up in size and around 78-80 to hang with some friends.
Keep em coming.
