tv in a foutie
Who has done the flat panel install in the cuddies? What type and size did you choose and why? How did you install to make factory looking?

sorry no picks but we have 2 19" LCD with DVD player combo units in our. The only thing I would like to do is get it framed in with a box, but they do the trick.
Good luck, Jay |
In the cabain of my 27 I took off one of the mirrors and installed a 10", monitor cause it was the same size as the mirror, I also have the JVC deck that plays DVDS.

A 13" Sharp Aquos also mounted where my mirror was, (no cutting of the wall behind the TV) so I can always put the mirror back with no signs of the TV being there when ready to sell. I made the mount to angle the TV over a little for better viewing on the other side of the cabin. I use the TV as the monitor, with the DVD's being played thru the stereo head unit so sound plays thru the 2 front and 2 rear cabin speakers.
The TV came with a standard 110VAC power supply that converts to the TV's input requirement of 12VDC. I just bought a plug to go to the TV and wired direct to a 12 source and didn't use the included power supply cord so I can watch movies out on the water. While in the slip on shorepower, I have a on-board battery charger to keep the batteries charged. Works great. If you do install a TV in a box as I did, you will need to allow for venting. I have cut outs in the box against the wall on the bottom, top for access to the Power, VOL and Channel controls, and also on the left side for access to the A/V jacks for the times I hook up my video camera to the TV. I can feel some heat coming out of the top openings during operation. |
