Fountain Factory Sale
We just got back from the Fountain Factory Sale last night. We saw lots of great stuff including Mr. Reggie. Here are some of the highlights:
Took a ride in a new 42' Lightning w/700's. It ran 101 mph with four of us in the boat. A significant cross wind kept Brian from totally airing it out. It had 106.6 on the gps recall. You could really hear the whirl from the 700's blowers even at low rpm's. Brian slowed down to 90 mph and made a hard right turn. He kept the throttles down and we were running close to 90 mph when we came out of the turn. It was as smooth as silk. Awesome ride! A customer had his 42' Poker Run boat there for an engine change. He went from 600's to 1075's. They did not run it while we were there on Saturday but our dealer told us it ran 143 mph on Friday. The new 33 Lightning is a beautiful boat. They had one on a trailer and one in the water. Both had 496/425 motors. Factory sale price was $208K. Since I own a 32 Fever I was interested in how low the new 33' Lightning sat in the back. It appeared to have at least 2 inches but not more than 3 inches more clearance than the old 32's at the stern. The old vent holes have been replaced with grills that are centered in the back under the sun deck and above the centered grab rail. The reason is to help keep water from getting in. I understand that the original plan to modify an old 32 Fever mold was scrapped and instead they took 2' out of the current 35' Lightning mold. That is why it looks just like a 35 Lightning just 2' shorter. Since we were not interested in buying a new 33 we did not take a ride. Fountain does a very good job in putting on their Factory Sale show. We had a great day! |
you should have takin some pics.

I posted a bunch of pics in G.D. the other day so the thread is now a page or 2 back. Guess I should have done it here also.

I was scheduling a 42 PR to be built back in '06 after my 42 Ex. 850's were going in it. Man, thats got me thinking again. We figured about 125-130 w/ that power. What an azz kickin V that would be.

Yes, I believe it was.
......him switching to 1075's doesn't suprise me though:D |
My boat was getting wrapped right behind that Stampede boat. They wrapped it on Friday and the owner didn't like the shape of the horse heads, so Kevin and the vinyl guys had to peel it off and do it again!! Man I hope he didn't have to pay twice, mine was $3500 and only 29' long!
BTW - I could shave with those Herrings that were hanging off the back of Stampede. |
