Anyone removed the saddle tanks from a 42?

I don't need the range as much as I would like the extra room in the bilge. Has anyone removed their saddle tanks? How difficult is it?

I guess the question is WHY? do you want more storage? I know most people don't use them very often, but those running high HP and need 92oct are very glad they have them, when they do poker runns, high oct is getting harder to find on the water.

room, weight and I don't need the extra capacity.

Leave them in

Works as ballast and taken into consideration with design and engineering. They can be removed but if you run rougher water leave them in, it's a better ride.

Thanks Shogren - Question: are you saying the wieght, even empty acts as ballast and the tank filling the two rear stringers is intended to add structural integrity?

Hope this helps

Boat will run best and have best CG with about 10 gallons of fuel in each saddle tank. It does not effectthe structural integrity.
