It's just the way the graphis look on the boat. Kind of hides the beak. Look hard at the picture on the right - the beak lives.

Nope, If I remember right the beak was bobbed off when this one was being rigged and tested for the big speeds. Remember something about creating a little too much lift. Look again, it is not a full beak there.

This is true if my memory serves me. I ran in the 06 Jax Poker run and snapped a good photo of it as we were all idling out to the start area and noticed that "something" was missing. And I was told the reason it was missing was because of too much bow lift at higher speeds. I recently had the honor of hanging out with Ben Robertson (and witnessing his genius) and he told me that boat is a handful at higher speeds. I don't think that boat has hit its true potential as far as speed goes. Good luck to its new owners!!!!

PS: I know they're running it with Sterling 1500's, but I'm curious as to what would happen with a couple of those Chief turbo 1800's????:evilb:

Come To The Nyc Poker Run And Witness First Hand, Boat Is Insanely Fast, Boats First Debut:d

I saw the boat last 2 weeks ago, they were just finishing the wrap. Looked AWSOME, we had some discussion of making the wraps as options on future boats. They are making those wraps in house at Fountain now.:D

I agree. This marketing schpeal is getting old. There isnt really anything "cat killer" about it. Yes, it will run with similarly sized and powered cats.....but they still have the edge by a few mph.

On the other hand you cannot compare a 210mph 6k hp turbine cat to a 180mph 3k hp piston vee.

Yes, all the fast boats ran "about" the same speed.

PARADISE ISLAND 06-08-2008 08:55 PM

Anything new about this boat?

Racerngr1 06-11-2008 10:54 AM

Why wouldn't the just put turbines in this boat "cat killer"

fountainracing65 06-11-2008 06:15 PM

Does anyone know the TRUE speed of the Fountain "cat killer"? I have been told some rumors. people say its not a true cat killer or the cats beat it by a few mph's. Until its run all out in a kilo I trust there will always be discutions like this. I think old reggie has seen 200+ out of this rig. He is smart enough not to reveal the true numbers. Wait until someone chanenges him seriouosly. I think it will be mind blowing to all. my 2cents
