Replacing Bildge Pumps On Da 42
Wanted to ask if Fountain is still using Lovett 1200 bilge pumps or have they gone to something else?
I have a pair of Lovett 1200 pumps on my 42 Lightning and want to replace them but would like to install what would be the most reliable type out there.I really don't want to rebuild the ones I have because the boat is a '96 and I would feel more comfortable just shotgunning them with new ones. I know I've actually asked two questions but any/all feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Dennis |
I need to replace mine also.

the new ones have been coming with rule 1200 or 1500. the round fully automatic ones.

Funny(ha-ha) monstaaa that you mention the Rule 1200's as I have a new set that I was contemplatin installing. They're the electronic round ones.I've heard some bad smack about them failing but WTF I think I'll give 'em a try.The only cheesey thing I see about them is the strainer base doesen't look too beefy.I'm gonna mount them as close to the stringer as possible and rap a ty-rap around the pumps center and then fasten to the stringer with a screw for a little more ridgidity.

My factory installed Lovett units on mine seized up after one season. Fountain didn't have parts/replacements for the warranty work so they gave me the OK to replace with Rule units. So far so good.

we just replaced ours when we had the motors out, we replaced them with rule auto/man pumps

you can use a small piece of aluminium angle screwed to the stringer above the pump to hold it down
