where to mount gps
i wanna mount a garmin gps in boat and was wondering where people are mounting it for a nice clean installation any pics or info would be greatly appreciated.

I got a garmin portable mountable with suction mounts above the dash. It looks fine, works great and didn't come loose even in 8 footers on a brutal 400 mile trip. Best of all it's removable and can be used in other boats or vehicles.

I made an aluminum bracket that is attached to the top right two screws on the instrument panel. I Milled it and bent it to the correct angle and then had it powder coated white to match the dash. Ran the wire down the right side of the panel and used adoll clamps in the existing holes that hold the instrument panel to the boat. I will uncover the boat later this week and post some pictures. It is not as complicated as it sounds and it looks factory with out making an new holes in the boat.

From your avatar I assume you are running a 38 Fountain, I have an 07 38 also. I removed the compass Fountain mounts on top of the dash and mounted Garmin chart plotter their. I will show some pictures just have to find them.

i appreciate it. With the race fairing its easier to mount something but i have the wind shield and dont wanna make it look like an eye soar. Not much room left w the smart craft in dash

Here are the pictures of ours. I wanted it lower than the windsheild, but its almost impossible to find a gps that has a screen you can really see when you get real small. Thats why I went with a 172. Its just a little taller than the windsheild, but the wind is deflected over it. I can run down the river with the cover over it and it wont blow off the unit.

thanks for the pics
