Non step 40' Fountain Rough ride?

How does a older 80's 40' Fountain stack up against say a older non stepped 38 Cig? My buddy has always liked them, wondering how they do in big water? How the hulls hold up, etc?

So nobody has any opinions on this? Somebody out there must have been in a 12 meter and a cig same vintage. I'm curious, as my boat is new to me and would like to know where I stand in the big stuff.:party-smiley-004:

they both are big and heavy, and ride better than a 29. when you get in 10 footers at the put-in-bay poker run you will know how they run. But bring brass those boys play hard.

I have rode in both and i own a 38 Fever and i love Fountain. But a 38 Top Gun in Rough water will outride a Fountain any day. I have been In a cig stepped non stepped and a old Kevlar cig and they ride like tanks. A 10 or 12meter will handle what is in Front of it and will ride very well with a good driver who knows how to trim a boat. Cigs are somewhat effortless. The disadvantage with a cig is it takes alot more power to make them go. As we know Fountain has them Dominated in the speed dept. And a old Fountain looks better than a old cig and there are more ways to update a Fountain.
