08' 38 w/600's

what speeds with staggered 600's is reggie getting out of his 38's?

Beak Boater 03-20-2009 04:33 PM

We had 06 38 with 600's and bravos. The boat ran 94 with 5 blade Maximus props.

tblrklakemo 03-20-2009 04:48 PM

An 08/600 will break 100mph. Reggie says a 525 will do 96+

I have a 2007 38' with 600s and it ran 103.5. That was with 32" Herings 6 blade.

What do you mean by bigger water? How big are you talking?

reason im asking, been looking at that 38 w/600's that shogren has, boat will live at LOTO, how will those XR's hold up? i know its not Lake Mich, but it can get very nasty on a busy weekend.

My potential next boat - A 38 with some form of OEM 600 to 700 HP without the associated bravo problems.

Wildman_grafix 03-23-2009 01:33 PM

That is one nice looking 38. I do hate no shore power on a 38 foot boat.
Seems Fountain never thinks anyone will really use the cabins.

Beak Boater 03-23-2009 03:40 PM

Had to go on Shogrens web site to see if that was our old 38. It wasnt. Thats one beautiful boat. Great mph # on the Race view/ Smart craft. You will love the 38, its well balanced, big enough to handle some rough stuff, and small enough to trailer without too many problems. Plus the 600's can run on 89 octane fuel. When they first came out we had to run 93. I boat on the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Im not a rough water fan, dont like to go out and jump big waves, or see how fast I can go in rough water. 3-5 foot waves are the biggest I have been in and the boat did fine. I wouldnt want to run all day in them, but it can handle that ok. We put about 60 hrs on our 38 before we traded it. Had one Xr problem under warrenty. The upper and lower gears got stuck together and had to be repaired. If ours would have run 103 like the one you are looking at, we wouldnt have bought the 38/700's. Scott, Greg and Bruce are great people to deal with. Any questions you have about the boat they can answer and will tell you the truth. If you havent checked you may want to find out about insurance, once you pass 100 mph, it can get costly, not sure what boat you have now. We have ours with,
Stacy Shute

Bob I have a 35 lightning that is faster than your boat I must be running 104 :cool-smiley-027:

the 38 will be a nice boat for LOTO, I agree with Beak Boater. I use to live there and had a 40 Excalibuar Hawk and a 35 Fever.
Enjoy
