seating in 35 execusioner
 

I Just sold my 27' powerquest and I am now it's time to decide what to buy now. I'm leaning towards fountain 35 execusioner but I'm concerned with the comfort and space. How many people can ride comfortably on the back bench? The majority of the time I am relaxing on the boat while anchored and it wasn't too cramped if I had 5 people on my other boat. I'm just looking for some honest oppinions from current or past owners. How is staying on the boat for a weekend in the cabin area? One more....anchor-dock line-bumper-and general storage. Thanks alot

I had a 35 Ex. You can "sit" 5 people in it comfortably. The moment you try to get up and walk around people are bumping into each other bigtime. The cockpit space is narrow - both front to back and side to side. If you have 5 people in the boat and want to go from the drivers seat to the sun pad you literally have to direct your passangers where to go so you can get by.

The first time I stepped into the cockpit of a 38 Fever my 35 Ex was history. You can fit four people across the bench of the Fever as there is considerably more cockpit space both side-to-side and front-to-back. Six people can more around a 38 Fever with ease without bumping into each other. The newer Fountains, all the way up to and including the 42's, have even less cockpit space - but of course have much more effecient hulls for the tradeoff in lost space.

As for the cabins in Founains, they are fine as long as you are not above average height :)

And for storage, my anchor and line went under the bench seat, the bumpers stayed in the head or cabin when not in use. I'm not sure if the newer Ex's had an anchor locker.

The 35 Ex is a great boat. I loved the one I had, some things even more so than the 35 I have now.

The storage is fine, I kept fenders, 4 HTM 2's, and lines in the side storage areas. Anchor, huge HTM 3 fender for rafting, some tools, cleaning supplies, oil etc. under the rear seat. Seating for 5 but better with 4 if out for the entire day. The cockpit is smaller because the origins of this hull go back to when trannies were the norm with larger power, this does make working in the engine compartment a dream, way more friendly than the present 35. We spend every weekend all season staying on the boat, a perf boat does not live like a Sea Ray but both 35's have worked out fine for us. Check one out, you are the only one that can decide what's right.

East Coast Flightcraft in Middleton, Mass. has one now that seems to be well priced. There are a lot of Ex's out there.

That is one of the reasons I keep my old Fever. Love the new boats interiors and speed. But love my space on my Fever. I agree with Marginmn. Engine room space and to work on them is a breeze.

You will find that anytime you want to seat more than 3 people in the back seat, it'll get kind of crowded, unless they are pitette women. :D, or you're in a 46 Skater with a 4 person back seat. I can seat 4 people in my back seat, unless they are over average sized. Most of the time, people in the back want to stand up and hold on to the grab rails so they can see where they're going. I know, I usually do when in other boats.
As far as the engine hatch for laying out, you can usually lay 4 people on it comfortably. Not tellin ya what to buy, but if ya end up with a 35 EX, I got a feeling you're gonna really like it.

And, Shogren would be the people to talk to about a boat like the EX. Just my $.02

I used it, and loved, but just like I said at the time I wanted a 38 Fever because it had more room in the cockpit and gave a more stable ride at speed which I thought would make Lorrie feel more secure at the speed I wanted to go - 100+. At the time you had already decided on a 35 ex and were just looking for a deal on a good looking clean 35 Ex and mine more than fit the bill.

Now if someone is specifically concerned about having enough cockpit room in a 35 ex (and maybe even if they aren't :) ) Peter's feeling be damned but I am going to mention that more space can be found in the 38 Fever and the older 42s. As you know I pretty much tell it like it is about these boats except when Lorrie is asking about how much coin I am dropping into them :evilb:

Just kidding Robert. I was more than sold on a 35, and your's was perfect. Like I said there were things about that one that I still like better than the one I have now. It was a done deal when we walked on the dock and saw it sitting there. :D

I prefer the looks of the Anniv Edit, but it's hard to argue with the numbers the Black Biotch has throw out there with stock power. What did you prefer on the 35-Ex?

The cabin layout, have no real use for the fridge and liked the style of the older galley better. Miss the U shaped cabin seating with the extra storage under the center cushion. The real biggie is the split hatches and that extra space in the engine compartment.

I do love these 525's and the performance. Don't get me wrong, I am real happy in this one. Just a few little things that I prefered in the last one. I usually forget all about them as the speedo goes past the 90 mark! I am lovin' that deal!:D

The 35 Executioner is a very very good boat. We had a 2004 with 496HOs. It had a much higher finish than my 29 Feever (same year) and it is a true and classic Fountain. The looks have always been exciting. The downsides are (if I can mention them): 496 is not enogh to "wake the boat up", go for a boat with 525s. The screen is giving poor protection in rain, lightning is much better here. Head room i cabin is less because of the shape of the deck, Fevers are much roomier. Dashboard is somewhat low for driving in standing position. Best despite this, the boat is a really high quality boat with excelent styling inside and outside. I would not considder anything else than Fountain. Best boat in the world.......

I agree with the other posts regarding the space of the cockpit in the 35 Ex. Great for 4 people total. Most of the time it's just my wife and I so it's perfect for our use.
