03 Lightning 575 sci's, AZSM kits, Darren Mayer Teflon stripped blowers, EMI nosecones on stock lowers, 18.25 X Dim, Merc Labbed 32P Maximus.
Picked up 1 lb. of boost (according to dash gauge) from Teflon stripping, now shows 6lbs. EMI Nosecones added this winter. Maximus props just added. Last year ran 93 GPS @ 5400 with some 32 b1's with some cup added. Today with blower service/upgrade, nosecones, and Maximus ran 96 GPS @ 5500. This was full of fuel but with cool weather and nice chop, may be a little left, limiter is at 5600. This setup planes easy (no tabs, no blowout at all), runs on a rail, and I picked up 4 mph @ 3500 cruise speed. Super smooth feel to the boat at all conditions and it eliminated the 'hop' I used to see above 90 mph in 2 ft. chop. Very happy with this setup, knowing each boat is unique I am not sure how much room is left for improvement ? |

:drink:Those props look familiar, Kelly if you ever want to sell those props RaggedEdge will give you 10 cents on the dollar. Glad they worked out for you my friend. VV Oh by the way I really like the color of your ride. Here is mine.

Nice number there Kelly. You might pick up something if you trim the diffuser a little, call Brett @ BBlades and see what he thinks.
So are you going to get up here to the Bay sometime this summer? |
Ragged,
I have heard these like the ring trimmed but will have to decide benefit vs. negative side effects. I will give Brett a call and run my numbers past him. Will plan on passing through A-Bay during the PRA August run if all goes well. Still have some Formula friends that like to play ?:evilb: |
Congrats on the Ride. Thanks to Kelly O, who braved the elements on Saturday and went for a ride on my machine. Radar Looks Clear.....lol.
Blades and Drives Looked awesome. Looking forward to a good summer!!! |

Let me know if you're coming up, we can get together and kick some Formula butt, just for grins. :D One more question here .... what is the diameter of the props you got from VV? Where did you find your 35? There was one like it in N.C. or S.C. when I was looking. |

They are Mercury Lab 15.25 dia.
Boat came from Charlotte area in N.C. Must be the same boat, I think it was at Carolina Performance Marine in Charlotte. I ran some non lab 15 5/8's Maxes last spring from BBlades and they were dog chit on my boat. Way too much tail lift and real chit on plane. Interesting they work so well on yours. Just got my 5b Precisions back from another round of fix-em's and haven't had the chance to try them yet. Only hope they are back to where they ran before the lab work. |
Hey Kelly I hope you have a tow rope for me so I can keep up .LOL .You going to be out this weekend ?
|
I know Kelly will be out, all of the Cayuga Lake Power will be out and ready despite the cold. Sweatshirts and boats suck, its supposed to be Bikini's
|
Are you going to be up at the cove ?
|
Yes, we will be around Sunday and Monday.
Possibly Saturday on Cayuga too hitting the watering holes with a bachelor getting ready to tie the knot. If you are out, my boat may be in new lift 1 mile north of cove on East shore. |

[QUOTE=RaggedEdge;2867799]Nice number there Kelly. You might pick up something if you trim the diffuser a little, call Brett @ BBlades and see what he thinks.
Update : Did not talk to Brett, researched old threads here then cut rings off at casting mark. Picked up 100 to 150 rpm, no real difference in planing ability ( will still plane with no tab and no blow-out ). Picked up a couple mph on the big end, stern seemed planted better. Good results for me. |
Very nice! Now all you need to do is get up here and kick some of this arrogant Formula azz.
Where is your X dimension? |
