ethanon FUEL

Any clue on what this junk gas will do to our blower motors?
All of our pumps have made the switch. jet it up or retard timing?

Not good for aluminum fuel cells will eat them.

Passed on fuel for the boat today at the local Sunoco station because when I gassed up the truck yesterday I saw the new sticker next to the hose. Gotta love these Dumocrats!

I know it is a problem with fiberglass tanks but never heard this on aluminum.
What kind of tanks do they use in race motors that run Alcohol?

In California we started using Ethanol in fuel about 20 years ago during the summer months (the called it "oxygenated") as it greatly reduced air pollution -- its not a small difference! I have never seen nor heard of a problem out here.

There were studies on the problems with fiberglass fuel tanks, and the problems were very, very isolated: one small supplier of resins for a couple of years in the 70's.

I'm looking forward to the day we go all ethanol so we can run higher compression engines that are far more efficient and even cleaner burning. I hate smog, I like performance, and I really hate sending my money overseas.

Remember: the alcohol classes are much faster than the gas classes, but a little slower than nitro.

And all that energy money stays in the USA.

alky powered race cars and marine are on methanol, ran it for years, and very corrosive we had to drain the fuel bowls and lines after every race. One it hated moisture would turn yellow and gum up two it would eat the alm AN fittings. Made awsome power though!
With methanol we ran almost double the fuel mix.

I heard ethanol was corrosive also, dont know if its true!

Ethanol ss not nearly as corrosive as methanol. Most systems will require some kind of change to run e85, but as mentioned earlier you can run way more timing / boost.
