I had one broken on mine. Althou mine are black i think the same company. Anyway the company name was on the latch. I looked them up on the internet and found a phone #. I called them and they sent new one free of charge. Sorry I dont have the # anymore but I bet you can do the same thing.

Good luck.

Teak Isle

Boatfix has them, but only in black from what I see.

Anybody ever find these things in White?

The ones on my boat are all discolored along with my steering wheel. Maybe there is something that will whiten this stuff up?

RaggedEdge 03-15-2010 07:28 AM

Got two from Fountain last fall, can't remember how much but not a lot. Just call there and ask for Gail.

lifesaboat 03-15-2010 09:12 AM

Just got mine from Fountain last week. Just keep calling or emailing. They'll eventually answer.

ryan450r 03-16-2010 09:51 AM

Thanks guys! Is there a cheap easy white steering wheel option or do I get that from Fountain also? I've done searches but it seems like most people were putting on fancy expensive wheels. I just like the stock look myself.

Put a wanted ad in the marketplace. As you said, alot of us are replacing them and have no use for the stock ones. Already sold mine, otherwise you'd been all set.

I've got a nice white wheel that came as part of the Imco package that I installed on my Velocity years ago. Was the exact wheel I already had in the boat so I just put it on the shelf, still in the plastic wrapper it came in. White Dino wheel with brushed silver spokes. That work for you? Could get a picture if you want.

P.S. DIRT CHEAP!

Apparently not what anyone is looking for, ryan450r is looking for a symetrical spoke wheel as well. Hey, it would have been cheap. Some day before I die there will be a guy that just has to have this wheel, or I could turn it into a neat piece of wall art! :lolhit:

Honestly though, a non symetrical wheel on a hydraulic system is not cool. The thing is all over the map and never in the right position. Know a guy that put one on his Formula, every time he docks the boat he fusses around to get it to look just right. Way too much F'n around in my book.

mcprodesign 03-18-2010 11:25 PM

Thank you for the Pinoint,Honest analysis.:D There is not enough people like you around. Nice boat btw.. Maybe someday....

as far as the wheel... If I had a rider mower..:cool-smiley-011:

I purchased a wheel from Speed and Custom Marine from OSO classifieds. not real expensive and good to deal with. picked up the phone talked to a real person asked alot of questions 2 day later I was installing it. It was a color but they have white, I sold my white stock wheel also. good luck in your search

Just curious, I didn't understand what's wrong with that wheel exactly.
I have a similar one on my 27, and it does cover some gauges (also because the dash is the latest design with the monster ones), but I don't see how a different wheel could improve that.

ryan450r 03-19-2010 08:57 AM

Just ordered the latches direct from Fountain. They were $17 a peice. Just figured I'd let people know for future reference.

Also, someone replied to my WTB post in the marketplace section for a steering wheel. So, someone hooked me up with a clean stock wheel for $25. I thought that was more than fair. Hopefully it's as clean in person as it looked in the pictures.

Thanks for everyones help/suggestions.

I second Speed and Custom Marine. I got a red symetrical spoke wheel from them (see link) not very expensive compared to others. I topped it off with a custom aluminum center cap from Outlaw Disk Brakes (pachangalpina here on OSO). It really freshened up the dash and matches my red bezels perfectly. I still have the old white one, but it is not very white anymore either....

There's nothing wrong with it. Just being a non-semetrical spoke design on a boat with hydraulic steering means it will not always return to a centered position every time. If it was on a cable system you can center it and it will always be that way when running straight. Symetrical spokes are not always perfect either, but they are closer no matter where they are.

If we all wanted the same wheel, someone would make one and we would all have it. :drink:

Now I see what you mean. I understood it was a matter of instruments visibility.
In fact, in this respect I'd love to have my wheel always centered while cruising, but I guess it wouldn't be much better with the typical 120 degrees three spokes.
I was tempted to fit the one below to improve visibility... Wadduthink, is it too serious for a Fountain? :lolhit:
With apologies to the OP for the thread drift!

TheDG 03-22-2010 09:47 PM

I ordered new ones last year. If you look on the back of the ones that you have there is a company name. I can not remember what it was, my boat is in storage or I would just go look and tell you. They were about 8-11 bucks each.

Look and find the name, Google it and the number comes up and the part number is right below their name. The white ones will always turn yellow so I would just get the black ones.

I have also ordered a lot of stuff from Scott at Speed & Custom, Great guy and great prices. He can pretty much answer any question you have and if he is not available, his wife Kathy knows just as much. This dash set up I got from him and the price was great. (Dont mind the wire hanging, this was mid install) lol

RICHARD CUNY 03-23-2010 04:10 PM

Hey Justen
thought you sold that dash with the boat
Rich

TheDG 03-23-2010 09:32 PM

Hey Rich, How are you doing buddy? Still have the boat, should be ready to drop in the water in the next few weeks.

Send me a PM, we will catch up.
