Need help fast please ! Fever 27 purchase

I have been lurking here for 2 years. contemplating a purchase .
I have come across a 1997 fever 27, with single black block 502,
My dilemma is this,
1.the boat has been sitting for a year outside undercover .
2.Went out only once last year.
3.Motor supposedly rebuilt two years ago ( i can confirm this on Monday).
4.Windshield cracked needs replacing.
5.Side windows spiderwebbed pretty bad, need replacing.
6.Rear engine hatch cover needs replacing
7.Rear bench seat needs recovering.
8.Compass doesnt work.
9.Trailer is in terrible shape needs at least 1500 worth of work
and thats if i do it myself, or i can get a good used one for around 3000
10.Needs quite a bit of cleaning , but i think with the right stuff it will come out ok.
11.Salt water boat, i am on the coast.
12.Gauges may be ok , But the panel definately needs replacment .
13. Controls on steering wheel do not seem to work . and the steering wheel has a lot of mildew stains , will replace .
14.Boat has 222 hours on it.

I have no problem with doing all this to have a nice boat , pending i get a pretty good deal.
I like the graphics and color package of this one a lot.
He says make an offer on it and he is going to do some research to find out value. I know if he just looks around a little ,there are enough outrageously priced ones out there that he is probaly going ot come back with a high price.
Realistically What is this boat worth in this economic downfall?
I am going to pay him in cash , and have already left a 10k deposit.
But i have looked pretty hard , and have turned up a few super clean , almost new looking 27s in the same year <(one from a dealer ) for as low as 27k and that one was immaculate. But a long haul for me to go get. I also spoke with a guy that had a nice one with a blue block motor in it , fairly close to me that had his for sale for almost a year for 32k . I just wasnt ready to buy at the time.
Im ready to make a move but like i mentioned I do not want to overpay when i have quite a bit of work to do to it.
I actually brought the boat home yesterday, and had to struggle to get the hatch open, replaced the batterys ,and put a new ignition in it because he had lost the keys. I went through the trouble because I wanted to hear it runand check out the functions of the accessories.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Leads on a good deal gladly accepted as well.
THanks, Terry

Its a buyers market.

Put together a cost list to put it back to front line ready specs and subtract that number from the current market value.

Sounds like alot of work and that isn't including the unseen stuff. Sounds to me like he owes you some cash back

Dookie,

Go pick up the boat or get your 10K back. Do not pay more than 10K you are embarking on a chit load more expensive vemture than i think you realize. 10K its ok, not any more, your going to drop another 10K to get this boat in good condition, another 3K on a trailer, BTW a 222 hours and motor was rebuilt, someone must have ran teh chit out of it, racing motors last that long. Take a look at this one. Where the hell were you a couple weeks ago, a guy in SC let a 27 go in perfect condition with 700hp for in the 20's

....

THank you guys for the honest feedback. I expected some harsh comments. Go easy on me ......

Anyways , I do like the colors on the boat alot as well as the options. Like i mentioned i dont mind doing the work, but I do want to know what an honest fair price for this one will be . If it isnt a fair deal for me , knowing i have to put some time it , i will walk away. Honestly I would think it is worth more than 10k. But that is why i came here , because i dont know the market as well as i would like to .
I dont know what the engine cover will cost from fountain but i would definately go that route on that particular piece. the back seat i can do local . The last engine cover i had done locally was totally rebuilt due to rotten plywood , and it cost me 400 , Although it was from a wellcraft and not as big , and 8 years ago.
Like i mentioned i am going to talk to the guy that has serviced the boat over the last few years , and is responsible for the engine rebuild , turns out he is a good friend of friend of mine.

I did give the guy 10k , in order to take the boat with me and do some checking out of my own, and to give him the security of knowing i wasnt just blowing smoke. He wanted to work on it sometime this week when he got the chance , and i knew that it wouldnt have happened very quickly.
Yes i Saw the ad for the 27 that just sold for the mid 20's, and was on the edge of my seat when i saw the Sold post. I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat.
Thank you again for any and all advice good or bad.
