Please help, I need your opinion on boat name

Hey guys,

I have been building a fountain lightning for the last 18 months and I am getting ready to drop it in the water soon. I have a guy getting ready to do some vinyl stripes and a boat name on the side of the boat.

What do you think about names going down the side of the bow of the boat? Cheezy???

I do not want to put all of this money, time, blood, and tears in this thing to not like it.

I am thinking about naming it "The Dirty Girl" What do you think? NO?????

I wanted to name it something different and kinda funny.

Please let me know your opinion..........I need to figure this out soon.

You will have a hard time at resale if you put it down the side and when you go to take it off its hard to get the sides to buff back out and look the same. I know because I am going through that right now with the boat I just bought, I have buffed it three times and I can still tell where the letters were. Just put it on the back, my opinion. I like the name.

BAJA WILL 06-21-2009 05:34 PM

NO NAMES ON SIDE OF BOAT, you will look like a tool, I remember all those 80's and 90's Scarabs with chit like "truckin" "thunder" "haul ass" painted on the side.

Names go on stern, with port of call, would you write a name on the side of your ferrari????????:bigbird:

JayFan 06-21-2009 07:20 PM

Agree.....cool name, but keep it on the stern.

RaggedEdge 06-21-2009 07:52 PM

Question here, is Happy Camper the Dirty Girl?

If so then for sure name the boat after her!!! :D

Fenderjack 06-21-2009 07:54 PM

I would axe THE Just Dirty Girl

TheDG 06-21-2009 09:46 PM

Hey guys, I appreciate all of the feedback. I agree 100% that the names on the side of the boat look very 80's. That is what I was afraid of. I will do the name just on the stern of the boat.

I kinda like the name but I am not sure about it 100%.

I am open to any ideas or feedback so lay it on me!

Let me know if you have any better boat names...

PS: The "Happy Camper" is not the Dirty Girl.......She is against the name, for some reason she does not want to be the girl on the boat named the dirty girl.........lol

Damn, I like the name "Dirty Girl" on the back maybe a compromise "Nauti Girl" You get it Nauti as Nautical, she may go for it??:evilb:

poiuy10 06-22-2009 08:59 AM

Lets see a picture of the boat, if you have one.....

TheDG 06-22-2009 01:10 PM

I am going to have to say NO to the "Mr. Fister" lol

I do like "Nauti Girl" but not as much as Dirty Girl.

How do I post a picture of the boat here? I also will post a logo that I made up for the "Dirty Girl" name. I was thinking about just putting "The DG" on the back of the boat with this logo.

Any other good names?

If It was a cabin Cruiser I would name it "Yo-Ho" like a pirate boat.........

Wow, I feel like a tool, I knew how to do that. I just never saw the attachment icon down there! :bigbird:

Here is a pic of my boat and the logo that I made up. I was going to name it "The DG" for the Dirty Girl. I prob will still use this name. The logo is cool, I think. I was going to put "The DG" on the left side of the Stern and the Girl Shadow on the right side of the Stern.

Any cool ideas of what I could do to spice up the stripes with this thing? My dilema is that I paid this vinyl shop to do stripes and lettering on the boat and now that I am not going to do the lettering down the side of the hall I have to do something because they claim because they are a franchise they can not just give me my money back.

I should have never paid up front, Now I am stuck trying to use up a grand of vinyl.

21,
Sweet Looking 10 Mtr, nice lines. Hate to burst your bubble but I would'nt put the DG vinyl on the boat. You have a classic and I think it would de-tract from the 'look' . Dont mind me asking, is your windshield painted or is that vinyl also ? Been thinking of putting vinyl on my windshield to make my exterior all white.

TheDG 06-22-2009 04:51 PM

Thanks for the compliment on the boat. I love it, the bow used to have a stripe on it and but it was gone when I got the boat. The whole bow is white and I feel like it just needs something up there. The red stripes are a little beat up but I do like how the boat looks.

This is my initial thought of what I think I want to do.
-The rub rail insert was white rubber so I ordered a black rubber insert. The white one was beat up bad.
-because the red stripes are beat up pretty bad I was going to have them touched up with some paint to look good again.
-I was going to have them take black pinstripe and cover the white pin stripes in between the red stipes on the side of the boat to better tie in with the black rub rail.
-A small "The DG" lettering on the stern of the boat with the logo shadow small on the right side of the stern. My exhaust comes out above the rub rail so the lettering "The DG" will be inbetween the far left and the center exhaust, and the shadow will be inbetween the far right and the center exhaust.
-I want to do some kind of stripe on the bow to tie it all in as well.

What do ya think?

-Also, the winshield is like a white lexan. The windsheild, hatch, cabin doors, vents, everything is this white plexiglass or lexan. I really like how it looks.

RaggedEdge 06-22-2009 05:51 PM

Nice looking boat! Gotta love the hardcore Fountain lines. Timeless!!!

You just put "Happy Camper" on the deck and you will for sure draw a crowd at the dock. ;)

well I guess I am just stuck in the 80's b/c I like the name on the side of the boat.I guess its all in what you like b/c its your boat, hell If you had to please everyone you would not even own this style boat.RIGHT

TheDG 06-22-2009 10:05 PM

No, See.......I like how your boat looks. I just think that for the style boat I have with the lines it will look better with a clean side versus having the name across it. Yours looks good but it is more open. Once I put a name on my boat on the side I think it would just look too cluttered.

21,
The black insert in the rub-rail would be a good idea, hides dings better than the white. Touching up the red pin stripe also a good idea, make sure its a match ! I would stay away from the black pin stripe between the red, keep it simple... your trying to hard. As far as the stern goes, tape the vinyl to the boat, Dont stick it yet, just see what it looks like first before you commit ! Here is mine, classic white

Potomac Fever 06-23-2009 02:57 PM

My .02 stay with the white rubrail, its harder to keep clean but makes the boat look long ..the black will look like its cut in half, acectone will keep the white, white. I have had 2 boats w/blk and change the rails to white as soon as I got them.
BTW beautiful boat!

TheDG 06-23-2009 03:17 PM

Thanks for the compliment on the boat. I like the look of the white rub rail way better, trust me, but I already have a black one, and I do not want to go through the hassel of sending it back and all that crap. There is no insert on the boat as of now because the older white one was pretty much yellow from being beat up.

Do you think the black one will look bad? I am so confused on what to do with the vinyl graphics, I already paid the guys because I do not like to owe money, I just pay it and get it out of the way, now I can not figure out what the frick to do with the boat that will not make it look cheezy. I decided against putting the name on the side of the hull. I am going to put it small on the stern. The bow is completely white. Mabey the logo of the chick on the hatch window and a stripe down the center?

I just wish these guys would give me my money back and stop being *****s.

Potomac Fever 06-23-2009 07:51 PM

I don't think it will look bad at all , white is pure prefrence for me, as far as the name, mine is plastered down the side, so I can't say much about that except I like names on the side as well as the stern, do what suits you, its vinal, if you don't like it, take it off, go with your gut!!
