Replacing Starter in 35 Fountain

Has anyone replaced a starter on 35' Fountain? How did you do it...how hard was it?

I have a 1997 35' Lightening with Merc HP525SC Bravo dirves. The starter on the starboard motor is acting up.

Starboard side should be reasonable to get to, never did the starter but crawled in there for lots of other chit. Port side would be the PIA.

Yep, the starboard starter looks much more accessable than the port. My hope is someone knows for sure that it can be done without pulling the motor.

I almost certainly would pay someone to do it.

Pull the exhaust manifold off over the starter.

Pull the exhaust manifold off over the starter.

As USA1 said: Pull the exhaust manifold 10 min undo the starter wiring 3 min pull starter 5 min. Not that bad of a job. Just have to be a little bit of a contortionist. Installation in reverse.

Thank you folks for your replies.

I'm really glad to hear that it is not that bad of a job. I was not looking forward to the possibility of pulling the motor.
