27' Fountain Speed Experts ???

Posting this for a friend with a 27' Fever. He built up a single 710Hp Motor Bravo1 for his 27. Running about 5400 Rpm Hit 83-84 mph on GPS.

Does this speed seem accurate. I told him not long before that Bravo 1 let's go.

Any thoughts

There is a guy on YOUTUBE witha 27 with about 800HP running 90mph. Had to do x deminsion work on the drive and hull. Say good bye to the Bravo! Anything above a 85 in a 27 is asking for it. Better have insurance paid up!

Friend of mine has a 1991 27 Fever with 509 full roller blower motor ~ 625 hp. We had it out on the river this past weekend. 3 adults, 1 teenager, 3/4 tank of fuel, 79 mph on GPS. I think the best he has seen is right at 81 mph on gps. Runs ~ 8 lb boost, 4 blade Revolution 4 prop, 1.36:1 drive ratio with standard water pickups (no low water pickups) and MSD soft rev limiter at 54000 or 5600 rpm, if I remember correctly. We tried a variety of props on that boat and found that the Bravo 1's didn't work all that great and Hydro Q-IV's had too much stern lift - you could actually feel that the boat was riding higher out of the water and it would start to porpoise really bad above75-77 mph. If I remember right, there was a prop test in one of the magazines where they really liked the Rev 4, so we tried one. It was the best prop we ever ran on that boat! He has had that engine in the boat for the past 8 years running with the same B1 drive. Just changes outdrive oil every 25 hrs or so.

Your buddy is asking for trouble, two problems, yea a 27 Fever over 75mph is a handful to drive and can get away from any driver, thus why Fountain only put up to a 500efi in them or 525sci. Second 710 hp is going to kill that drive.

That being said, at high speed the 27 Fever does better (top end) with a Hydromotive 4 blade, 17.5" X dim

to give you a reference point a 27 fever 500efi came with 25 Hydro, gps 74 mph.

For the HP he has I would jump to a 28 Hydro, should put him up in high eighties. Is the 84 he is hitting now GPS or speedo, the speedo are set 3.5 mph fast from the factory.

remember a 27 fever is very sensitive to weight, by that I mean for every 200lbs of people, fuel, you have in the boat you will loose 1-2 mph top end.

If you need extremely detailed info Contact Jim Valcko, goes by Jim V on here he has the fastest 27 fever on the planet, I think he's gps around 100mph

I run 700 hp and in the mid 80's so it seems right. The stock bravo will not last long. Mine made it 20 min. I just changed the upper to the Imco SC and that works very well.

I have a 2005 27' with a 525, 28 pitch 4 blade 1.50 ratio xr drive. Runs 81 GPS with boat load of everything and 2 people.
