Any Fountain Redo's... upgrades?

Its been a long cold winter and I need to see some redo's....
Any new projects happening? Any and all older projects welcome. I have a few things to do myself but need some motivation.

RaggedEdge 02-01-2010 07:11 PM

Motivation can be an issue up here in these northeren states this time of year! Snow and ice have a tendancy to put a damper on ones boating spirit. Actually ran into a friend this morning at Dunkin Donuts, he smiled and said good day for boating............ Not really, water's a little stiff.

Planed projects .......... Wax on, Wax off. :drink:

Strangely as it may sound we are thinking about adding a/c and heat

I would tell you the rest but there are spy's out there watching everything I do

Lol:party-smiley-004:

Not on the Fountain. This is the 1st winter I haven't touched it since I bought it 6 yrs ago. Was looking forward to no boat stuff this winter, but the new cruiser changed that. Now it's ALL I've done since I hauled it home mid Oct. Every day, every weekend, every evening. Even took a laptop to work so I can research during lunch and breaks. Either working on it, or looking for parts on the net.

Did you give up on a Formula?

chattviper 02-02-2010 08:10 AM

you can go ahead and tell everyone....you upgraded your bumpers...they are purple now to match your boat. :evilb:

Yeah, its fading fast....Our customers are very tight on spending and we've been chasing some owed money since October.
Could never have imagined how much 2 1/2 kids (long story) going to private school and all costs these days.
Wife doesn't want to let the 42 go???...can't believe she would take that over a 400SS but she said I don't have enough gray hair for a cruiser, whatever that means.
2011 should be a 400SS summer.

US1 Fountain 02-02-2010 01:20 PM

I hear ya, that's why we ended up with a '95 Baja cruiser. Our boating style has changed from trailing to different lakes, to staying in our slip all weekend long and just going out to tie up a few hrs. The Fountain just wasn't practicle for the new style. Doable , yes.

We bought this cruiser at a price that we won't loose any more on it now if we gave it away, vs just the depreciation we'd loose if we sell the 32, which I'm not quite there yet. Going to give the cruiser a yr to see how it works out 1st. That's my plan, but the wife sees the 32 and the truck, which is only used to pull the 32 twice a yr, just sitting in the garage. Financially it doesn't make sense to keep them, but they are free and clear and there if we do want to go elsewhere 1 or 2 times this summer.
I will say, the last of last yr with teh cruiser has been really great! Room for all our friends now on our boat.

How's things Robert? Was looking at some pics from the '09 Lake Cumberland Poker Run over the weekend and saw some shots of your boat, looked good!

Yamaha 225 02-03-2010 11:49 AM

HAHAHA, I have too got many calls by people who want to give me an alert that my boat is on its way down... Such alerts should not be ignored, so I have a way to ask them how deep it is. Alwas lots of fun!!

Hey Peter,

Thanks for the kind comments about the old girl.

Being that it's winter in Indiana and snow is in the forecast, things are as well as can be expected. The sun came out twice in January I think, but the Colts being in the SB has helped the winter pass. Next week we are bailing to Florida for a month so things are looking up. :)

How are things back east?

I know it's not right to tell the captain how to run his ship, but you really need to get some rope on those purple fenders before you toss them over the side. :drink:

Same deal up here, cold & snow then some more cold & snow, be glad when this one is over.

You take the boat and I'll fly down with gas money! Going to the Miami show?

Marginmn 02-03-2010 09:12 PM

No boat but weather permitting we are going to pull our jet skies down. One of these days we'll make it to the show but we'll just be traveling down to Florida that weekend.

Ragged I am glad you brouht that up

if we put ropes on they could bounce around an get in the motors
yes I know you can tie them, but he'll it 4' to reach from back seat just to teach them. Guess we will lie on one engine hatch that's not open and reach down an grab

Think I will keep ropes seprate an slide through wholes when we get them out

I am open for any suggestions

chattviper 02-04-2010 08:20 AM

just use an old trash bag...throw them in it when you stop and tie to the cleat. LMFAO :lolhit::lolhit::lolhit::lolhit::lolhit:

Sort of a catch 22 here, if the fenders are not tied into the holders won't they eventually bounce out?

Suggestion #1: Just rig the fenders up with ropes and stock up on belts, then store the belts under the rear seat where they can't get into the engines! :eureka:

Laugh if you will, but I have a huge HTM 3 fender that I keep under the rear seat just for rafting .................... in a trash bag! A new trash bag mind you, just to keep that mega-buck black Polyform Elite cover nice and clean.

Scruffy fenders and a black boat = :poopoo:

chattviper 02-04-2010 12:38 PM

LOL...I do as well. I just like to give Gerald a hard time. there is no telling what he will come up w to tie those new bumpers to though.:coolcowboy:

Why the need for fenders? You got rub rails...use them. :)

I decided to have my 2002 47 completely repainted at TimNorris.com.

Tim is big with NASCAR in Carolina as well as many other exotics stuff.

Boat was blue with 12' FOUNTAIN lettered on the side in gold. I had to take it off and start with some simple graphics with my logo. Sides are done and top deck is currently being prepped for base /clear white with graphics down the center. also transom will be done.
Hope to get it back later in the month. It has been there since Thanksgiving. Glad we started early.

Thanks to Back4More for resized pic. Arch was removed to fit in paint bay.
Ken

42 Lightning

We have pulled the engines on the 42 for rebuilds and upgrades to around 675 a side. Adding A/C, Gen and stereo system. LED lighting and underwater lighting, 5 blade Maximus, and a few other things. Its not getting warm fast enough!

chattviper 02-09-2010 02:15 PM

sorry for getting off topic...i wanted to upgrade to SCX drives but cannot make that deal happen. Hopefully next year.

New full length boat cover
Added Livorsi depth gauge
New carpet
New bumper covers to match cover and paint
Upgrading stereo

Bad Girl 02-22-2010 01:58 PM

Dash upgrade

1 Attachment(s)
I have decided to do a dash upgrade since I have changed the upper dash to one large panel instad of having the compass slot between the two angled areas. Now I can put a widescreen radar and gps up there as well as the gauges.
I will likely use Innotech to make the panels and change the white rims on the gauges to diff color.

Here is the upper dash now befor painting of the dash and deck.
