Bravo XR SSM VS IMCO SC

I have Bravo XR SSM's with 6 blade Herings on my 35 lightning Stag 496 boat. Any advantages to going to a IMCO? Fountain Perf Report says X Dim is 22.... Thanks!!

I have a friend with a 38 that is about that high with sport masters and he slings blades all the time and breaks a drive about every 50 to 70 hours

How fast is your boat now 1/2 tank 2 people 1 to 2 foot waves

What wheels does your friend have? Tell him he may want to check to see if he has a bent or out of round propshaft with a dial gauge. It should be no more than .003 out.

Mine runs 81-82 with a full load, 83-84 with the load you specified. I have had it 85-86 one time with wind and waves from the side, all i can figure is the side wind helped get the hull loose.

Shogren once told me that boat would pick up 4 to 6 with cmi headers

what is the drive ratio

CaptJohnT 03-04-2010 01:21 PM

The drives are 1.5's. I have heard the same about CMI's from Fountain and others

I also have a high X dimension 22.3/4, already thew a blade on a herring 5 blade , should I still be concerned of this happening more often or is it a freak thing . do you think 6 blades are better for more water contact ?

In my opinion

Call Jeff at Hering they are making there blades thicker and with a warranty

the older blades would break more often because they thinned them out more

or drop the x a little
