Gps?

Might be a dumb ? but Im having trouble with my gps speedo.Only reads intermittently, cycles when I turn the key and still has the tattle tale. Was going to send it out to get a new batt in the receiver but wasnt comletly sure that was the problem so I figured I would ask...Thanks

What do you mean it works intermittently? You are going down the river and it just stops working? Does it come back up after a minute? Ours does the same thing. But I noticed that it goes out when I hit the tabs, or trim the drives with the "both" button. If I trim the tabs, or drives individualy, it doesnt go out. I tried to see if I could move the power wire to the GPS antenna to another hot termial, but its wired through the Smart Craft. Usually if the battery in the antenna goes bad, it doesnt work at all.

From Livorsi's site:

Older Livorsi GPS antennas/receivers have a battery that needs to be replaced periodically. This battery holds startup satellite memory.

You will know when the antenna battery is dead by viewing the pointer on the speedometer. The pointer will stay at the 9 o’clock position, 6 o’clock position or it will sit at 0 MPH. Please do not attempt to replace the antenna battery yourself as it is very difficult and may lead to permanent damage to your antenna.

Livorsi now offers a no-battery antenna, however this antenna may not work on older GPS speedometers.

It has been confirmed that these antennas will work on GPS speedometers with 3 stud terminals. However, these no-battery antennas may not work with GPS speedometers that use a Molex plug (a small square plug) to connect to the antenna.

The easiest way to test compatibility is to ship both the speedometer gauge and antenna to Livorsi Marine. If the antenna qualifies for refurbishing, we can, at that time, offer you 2 choices at a special rate:

Eddie, thanks for the info! Beak, it hasnt worked right for the past month. Most of the time it reads 0-5 mph but every once in a while it will jump up to what seems to be the correct speed? Checked connections on the back of the gauge quick while I was out this wkend and they seemed fine.Going to recheck everything closer this week. Will let you know if I find anything that works.

mine was doing the same thing....after Brian had replaced it twice, Livorsi said they had some problems with some particular speedos and they either replaced it or sent a part to correct the problem......anyway it works perfectly now

Mine worked great for about 4 years. Replaced the battery, and now I am never sure when it is going to work.

Mine just started doing this also. It is stuck at 9 o'clock position. Is the battery in the round receiver on my dash?

Yes, it's a watch style battery
