tomtbone1993 06-09-2010 10:03 AM

anybody have a picture?

Pat Ousborne 06-09-2010 12:38 PM

$370 plus tax for 2 ? Thats way overpriced for 2 6.5" plastic covers with Fountain inscribed.

BKSAE 06-09-2010 01:10 PM

covers

Thats for a pair, and they are NOT plastic.

jmoore1225 06-09-2010 05:44 PM

Pat... Shogren told me $370 for on my doorstep!!! Thats billet & powder coated to the color of your choice... I wanted them real bad but just couldn't bring myself to pay that, I didn't get the prices for 6x9's or 10's.... To get all matching prolly looking @ well over $1000 , I just couldn't talk myself into it

Pat Ousborne 06-09-2010 06:24 PM

Ok ,better quality but pricey.I'd actually like 7 of them but not for that price.

gerritm 06-10-2010 11:57 AM

I have these in my boat. Excellent quality and have held up for 3 years. Look like new. Great company to deal with. Check them out. These are all custom billet aluminum.

Speaker Grills

Bought four Speakers and Grills from Shogren. Added 1 more amp, plus a Kenwood powered Sub, sound is great, more sound up high where your ears are.

Way cool, looks great!!:drink:

Pat Ousborne 06-22-2010 04:13 PM

These Fountain speaker covers really do look sharp. My question is" Do they only go with the stock fountain speakers"?Can they also be used to match up with other brands- in my case Infinity 6.5s, Pioneer 6.5s and how about a Kenwood 10.5 Subwoofer? if not I'd need the covers and new speakers ?

Nice! What is the finish on the silver colored ones?

Should work with most brands of speakers. My boat has purple billet grilles over Focal speakers, hole pattern seems standard such as Infinity and Kenwoods in previous boats.
Question would be do your current speakers have removable grilles ? Many marine grilles are integrated.

The original speakers are Silver Powdercoat, the Blue are the new speakers. The boat has both the Silver and Blue accents, I think the two tone thing works.

The Blue Speakers were take-outs from Shogren.

They're back!

Here is the listing for them on ebay. They come raw for $50/ea (much better price than previously listed) but you can have them powder coated for $15/cover if you order 4 or more

soldier4402 01-27-2012 12:28 PM

I agree even if they are billet thats a little pricey.

jmoore1225 01-27-2012 01:13 PM

That's not much more than any other billet cover, used to be $185 a piece!!

exactly why I wouldnt buy them then. plastic will do just fine.

jmoore1225 01-27-2012 05:54 PM

True but I can buy 20 sets of plastics at one set of billet. I guess if you got coing for $300 speaker covers go for it. rather burn it on fuel.

I am ok with this price but since my '97 Fountain was Sony equipped before they used Kenwood I think the screw pattern is for 4 not 6 screws as shown so it seems they may not retrofit? Anyone dealt with this issue?

THEPISTONHEAD 02-04-2012 03:18 PM

Those look awesome........tough price to swallow for a poor guy like me!!

I do think the billet covers are worth it if its in a high traffic area wear you could potentialy damage the speaker easy.

Pat Ousborne 02-05-2012 01:42 PM

The manufacturer to order these covers from is Billett Proof Design Inc. in Pennsylvania. However if your speakers like mine- Sony/4 hole and not the Kenwood/6 hole screw pattern they will not match up to install. Damian said he would make the 4 screw pattern for us with an order for 50 covers. However, I'm the wrong guy to get fountain owners together since I run with no boatgang these days. Without the order for 50,he says he can modify the 6s to work but not sure how as of yet. Any takers out there?

flat rate 02-05-2012 07:48 PM

I just bought one to see if it fits my speakers before I buy all 10. I have Diamond Audio speakers and Im just going to redrill the speaker holes to use the covers. I have to grind some material off the back side to fit also.

Tax Free 02-05-2012 08:56 PM

Last year I purchased 8 of the covers on ebay. Six were PC red and the other two had been painted. Last spring I built two speaker pods and removed the famous non-cracked Fountain logo. Memphis Marine Audio was used throughout and none of the holes lined up. Had to take it to the next level and add LED to the all of the speakers!!! So… lots of preplanning and preparation to piece everything together for the final product.

None of the Fountain covers fit the Memphis 6.5's inch speakers like Kenwood 6.5's. All of the items were put into mock setup before drilling anything a multitude of times. But all of my Memphis 6.5 have an additional six holes drilled into them. Works great and I think they look good!

With the right amount of patience and research you can make anything fit/work/operate!

Not a paying customer….so can’t post pics!!! Would be more than happy to email them.

jmoore1225 02-06-2012 04:39 PM

Pat Ousborne,

Would you happen to know if they make a 6x9 cover?

Tax Free 02-06-2012 05:08 PM

I have never seen any.....don't know for sure though.

Pat Ousborne 02-08-2012 07:29 PM

I dont think he does 6x9s but am sure he could.
The work was done for Fountain and I don't think they used6x9s?

Pat Ousborne 02-23-2012 12:34 PM

After Damian sent me an unfinished cover for try in, I ordered 2 powercoated. In my situation 2 screw holes line up perfectly and I can make it work from there. I'm told Fountain Powerboats is chapter11 again and just repair service going on. It could be a last chance to get whats left of surplus parts with the original logo. Hard to say?

Pat Ousborne 03-18-2012 09:48 AM

How i made the 6 screw covers fit and look good on 4 hole speakers without a big project.- I decided not to drill through speakers to match the new hole pattern since the holes lined up in a very bad way. The left and right Infinity speaker screws that didn't line up with Fountain cover holes now go only through speakers and not the covers. Then the top and bottom screws that lined up go through both the covers and speakers. Since there are 4 screw holes that now appear empty I found Pro-Dec.com online to get 3/8"hole covers that snapped in the unfilled holes in matching color. These hole covers were just a lucky find for me. Now all is installed simply and looks right.
