33 and 35 Lightning...dumb questions?
ok...don't laugh....i am looking at a few different 33 and 35 foot lightnings...can someone tell me the number of passengers these boats are allowed to carry?
to those that have them...maybe a little feedback about the boat? i currently own a baja 277 islander but would like something that i could sleep on if i had to.... thanks everyone! |
Everyone on here will tell you to get the 35. The 33 was a flop twin 496's you hit about 86 mph. You get staggered 525's engines on the 35 upper 90's maybe even touching a 100. Passengers 4 + driver. stuff maybe two in the cabin. Our 29 fever we had 8 people in it and it barely would get out the hole and on plane.

I've had 7 to 8 in my 32, 2 full fullsize coolers & a small cooler & had absolutely ZERO problems getting on plane..... With 7 on board that's including me it's managable anymore than that is probably a safety hazard if going any distance..... Me & my gf have slept on my boat several nights, a little small, the 35's have a little more headroom & I'm 6'5 by the way.....If you have the coin for a brand new 35 over a 33 or anything smaller you better jump all over that 35.... I sure Wish I had the money for 1

29's dont get on plane with one person LOL

hey now whats that posed to mean?! lol

we have had a 35 EX, 42 Lightning and this year bought an 09 35 Lightning, that new cabin is a home run in my opinion.....my wife and i have slept on it a couple times now and like it more than the 42 for overall functionality to be honest. can't beat the performance either.........4 adults, one teenager and an ok amount of fuel we hit 92mph at just over 5000rpm (gps).......great package.

I own a side by side '06 35 and it's a great all around solid 90 plus mph boat. The '07 and newer staggered boats are 100+ mph performers but with a little less cabin and cockpit space.
I have been in a 33 and felt it would be a fun boat with adequate overnighter space. Do not feel the 33 was a flop, I think it would be a real fun boat. Try them all and decide which one works for you. Often the cockpit space in a Fountain is criticized. My take has always been that if you are in the drivers seat, paying for the boat, happy with the boat, then those in the back are along for the free ride and if they feel they are lacking for space, then just get the fock out!!! |

I've been curious about the 33 and the staggered 35 myself having not been in the boat market for awhile and not keeping up with what's been going on.
My ex is now the pround owner of my, or should I now say, her 47 so now I'm back in the market looking and I'm thinking maybe I wanty to stay in the 33 to 38 range. I've had a 35 and 42 in the past and the 35 was always one of my favorites. Anyone know where the best deals on anything in this size range is? |

thanks for the replies....just what i was looking for..anybody else?? I am for sure in the Bay, have a slip a Hutchinson's Boat Works. You need a run in a 35 you just let me know, the Biotch loves to strut her stuff. Not sure where you are located, but Sutters Marine in Canandaigua, N.Y. did have a nice 33 a while back and I think East Coast Flightcraft in Middleton, Mass. had one or two as well. |
