No I didnt want to put HP500s in my boat, if that was the case I would have bought one with big blocks already.I like small blocks in the 29, lots of room to work on them, the plan is to bump the small blocks up to the 370hp range possibly through 383s or who knows maybe 174 superchargers, my top speed goals are 78 to 80mph, should be achievable and I want to keep the alphas. It is a fairly light boat and around here alphas are very plentiful and cheap if you pop one and every marina in the world stocks parts and knows how to work on a small block/alpha combo which is important to me because I do alot of cruising far away from home .............Doug

I have a 1997 29 fever w/ twin 7.4's. I am spinning 24 pitch Hydro's. My GPS speed is aroud 70 mph at 4,800 rpm at 2300 feet in elevation (lake mead). Hopefully this helps even though the motors are BB's.

I seldom surf on other builder's forums but I happen to come over here and saw this thread. I'm surpised to see the low speed numbers of 29's with twins. I would have guessed any 29 Fever with two motors would flat-out fly. I guess not. Reggie says a 29 with one motor will go 73mph and since two of anything is usually better than one, go figure???

I was mistaken in an earlier reply when I said the boat did 68-69 MPH with the factory props (22p Bravo 1's). The boat was doing 66 MPH with 2 people and half a tank at 5000-5100 RPM. This past weekend with the new props (24p Bravo 1's) with a full tank and 2 people the boat ran 66-67 MPH. I took the K-plane stops out and brought the tabs all the way up and I ran a solid 68 MPH with the speedo bouncing to 69 MPH with a full tank and 2 people in the boat at 4700 RPM. Aside from more speed, the boat didn't act any different with the tabs all the way up. I also didn't feel like I lost anything out of the hole, in fact the old props were easier to cavitate.
