Fountain Paint Process

How does Fountain paint their boats?

In particular, do they typically clear coat the entire boat? The transom? And have they done this all along?

most all of the factory stripes and designs that i have seen have been in solid colors no clear coat and they do not clear the whole boat. although i haven't seen one of the new ones that have red all done the side with the flip-flop name in it. i would imagine that is clear coated ( the color only )

I'm pretty sure the graphics are done in Imron. I'm not sure about the clear coat.

Yeap, graphics are done in Imron. The base color, which is 95% of time white, is in the Gel. Not painted. I imagine the all red base color ones are also in the Gel. I never heard of any having clear coats, that's not to say they aren't.

Fountain is using PPG for paint with no clear. I had to track down a dealer to see color chips. Sonics and Active Thunders are clear coated. The clear coat really brings out the colors. My old Checkmate was clear gelcoat before the colors went on inside the mold. That’s the best way to do it.
