leaking rub rail
i have a 35 ex water is comming in at the stern around the moulding.I took off the center ss peice and found the hard rubber mouled peice thru bolted.I didn't want to remove it because the boat and graphics are painted on it as well.around the stern behind the swim platform is it open or solid how would they have thru bolted it in the rear?please help

On my 2000 they are not through bolted, just typical SS screws. Took the back section off, use 3M sealer and reinstalled.

Hull and deck is supposed to be glassed together, but there are some place that can't be reached. Likely culprit is a screw hole or thru bolt. There are also rivets holding the hull and deck together for alignment purposes. Possibly a leak there. Can you get in the bilge when the boat is in the water to track it down? At least you will see what area the leak is coming from. Rub rail is screwed on, no thru bolts go through the rubrail. I would take off the section of rail where the leak is and either silicone it or 5200 it.

I did take out the stainless center on the rubrail the plastic rubrail is thru bolted.i did find a couple leaks where the drilled but no no bolt.I fixed two leaks but still comming in some where. But know i can't see.thats why I was wondering whats behind the transom and the platform one big void or solid/

We pulled my stainless rail off as well as the white plastic/rubber trim. Sealed it all the way up and put back on wet so the sealant would move and squeeze around everything including the holes. Made a massive difference. |
thank you SD
