29 fever top
Anyone have a top on a 29 fever? have any pics? Does anyone know if there was a factory made top for these boats and if it stored like on the 35'
|
Not sure what you mean by top??
|
I think he means bimini top.
|
thats correct a bimini top, Sorry...
|
Yes, Fountain made a bimini top for the new deck style 29's. My 2002 had one, and no, they don't store in the engine compartment like the 35 Lightning twin step side by side engine boats. My bimini usually sat in the garage because there was nowhere on the boat to put it. I bought an Anchor Shade several years ago and really like it ... just don't try to run with it up and put it down if any wind starts to blow. Have had two different bows in the anchor shade buckle from wind while sitting (not running the boat). A piece of aluminum round stock tack welded into each of the bows stopped anymore buckling. :D

you have any pics of the boat with the top up?
Below are the only ones I found, and they're of a 29 btw. The arrangement on the 27' is very similar anyway (If you're interested in some details just ask). But no, I'm afraid you can't store it anywhere. When unusued, you can only fold the forward arch together with the rear arch, rolling the bimini as shown in the first pic. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ious/29top.jpg |
thanks so much

Are you getting soft on me in your old age? Don't wanna look at boobies and now your avoiding the sun. Damit man! :)

I have one You can't boat in Havasu without it. Can't post pics I can send you one if you want?
|
I put one on my 27.. Only drilled 2 holes. . I'll try to get pics. I have 2 spots, ( where the snaps go around the outside), that I can mount it too if i want to take it down and run WOT.

Been looking at figuring out how to do a bimini top too, without it looking like an afterthought. Gotta keep the kid out of the sun a bit when its 100 degrees and family time on the dinghy...
Thinking about spending a couple days in the fab shop and building a custom deal that folds back and lays flat on the engine hatch right behind the rear seat when not in use. Another requirement for me is that it looks somewhat sleek when up... well, as much as a bimini top can look. Gotta try and achieve the 'roof chop' look. I'll have a play in the CAD system and see where we end up. Maybe once I build one it wouldn't take much to make a few more if anyone cares. Thanks for the pics mcpro. Least now I dont feel like I'll be the only guy with a bimini on a Fountain. Such is the life of compromise with young children and big boy toys... |

I asked about tops when I purchased my 29' from Shogren's. Scott mentioned the same thing others have already said, "There's no great place to store a top." On my last boat (Stinger 260) I had a custom camper-back top made so another couple could sleep on the sun pad ( this top + a Red Dot heater made the boat useable year-round). The front half rolled up and stood up like a radar arch and the rear laid flat on the back part of the sun pad. This was a low top and could only be used in a seated position but was good for 60 m.p.h.
As this summer will be my first full summer with the new boat I will wait and see about some sort of top after I have a bit more seat time under my belt. I'll be interested in what other owners decide on. |
found it http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...3&merchID=4006
no adding hardware, doesnt look to gay and should be easy to store. IM guessing you couldnt go to fast with it on, but better than throwing one of those abortion biminis on a fountain. |

I've seen several of those anchor shades blow over or bend on a slightly windy day...
We currently have a nice double bimini attached to our tower that holds up at 60 mph speeds... So wife won't let me buy a Fountain unless I figure out a bimini that will at least stand up to some wind gusts in the cove.... It frequently can gust up to 25mph. Anyone figure out where to order/buy a bimini for a 27 Fever? |
yeah Im not sure how well they work. Guy had it on his 35 and seemed to be fine in a 10-15mile wind. at 25 mph not so sure id want to be sitting out on the water anyways. Definitely not something to drive with.

I already have brand new one on my boat, professionaly made from friend, tint windows and screen, and keep it storage on my engine bay when i dont need
And we can run average 60 with the bimini on it before its scared I dont have picture at this time, but ill take it if someone want to see! |
I would like to see it up and how you store it.
Thanks |
