Looking at an older 29, what to look for?

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a bigger boat, and ran across a 29 Fever that I'm going to check out.

1987 29 Fever
454's
TRS Drives
600 hours on everything
New upholstery

That would be considered a good price for this boat? I know with 600 hours, I'll be looking at some motors soon. How well do these older ones hold up? I can't seem to find anything older then 88 for sale anywhere. Any problems with rot?

Thanks
-Rob

Like ANY old boat get a complete survey WITH HULL SOUNDINGS from a surveyor with perf boat experience to start......the old Fountains (like mine and like everything of the era) are heavy.....in general the old beaks hold up very well.....No particular problems with rot Reggie supervised construction and test drove every single boat in those days......mine has held up great....heres my old school set up complete with old school truck......hey, thanks for giving me an excuse to post a pic of my boat!! LOL

Check out this 29 at Shogrens. They just lowered it 5k. Sits on a new Eagle trailer. Prob worth 5k alone...

This is the boat I'm looking at. It's a bit short on details, but it looks like a good deal.

What kind of truck do you guys pull these things with? My current tow rig is a 76 Chevy K10, beefed up a little (3/4 ton springs, axles, brakes). I'm thinking I'll need to move up to something a little newer.

price seems good.....if it sits in a slip then you REALLY need a survey!!!!.....he doesn't mention a trailer so your looking at 4-5g's there....you'll need a tri with 3500lb axles or a tandem with 5000 lb axles for that boat, been there!....you dont need a dually but you need a 3/4 ton for that boat.....

heres my old school 3/4 ton 4x4 set up in front of the house, I have a company vehicle for work so the truck will just sit there for months on end and not move so I refuse to have like 50gs into a truck, plus I think its cool:drink:.....its a little underpowered (I want to change the cam in the stock 350) but you could eat your burger and fries pulling the boat.....if you got the 3/4 ton brakes (its ALL about the brakes!) and axles Id hold off on buying a truck.
