29 Fountain Worth?

I am needing to sell my 1998 29' fever, twin 454 mags, pretty good condition, I am interested in hearing what everyone thinks realistically I can get for it in this economy?

ttuton 09-15-2010 02:44 PM

I have spent the last 2 months looking at 29-32 fountains. I would say based on all the adds I have seen around $40k.

if you can wait till the winter,i bet the prices will drop.

DollaBill 09-15-2010 03:10 PM

25ish

PARADISE ISLAND 09-16-2010 08:04 PM

In a strong market 35-45k now 10k less!Keep it:drink:

nick9671 09-17-2010 08:15 AM

yea thats what I'm thinkin, just don't know if value will ever come back up to what it used to be....

DollaBill 09-17-2010 08:18 AM

When I sold my dealership in 07 I had a new 07 in stock. 525 nice boat on an alum trailer. $75K new. That was 3 years ago...

Potomac Fever 09-17-2010 10:11 AM

$25K sounds light to me, but its only worth what sonmeone will pay. In this economy everone buying is waiting on a steal of deal, good luck with the sale but I would consider keeping to see if things get better. just my .02

Rookie17 09-17-2010 05:49 PM

At $25k for a '98 I'd be interested in looking at it.

Send me detailed pics if you decide to take that kind of money.

nick9671 09-18-2010 09:32 AM

yea I can't take 25k for it, maybe take around 30k for it. I posted it in the classifieds so we will see what happens......

1980Condor460 09-18-2010 10:49 AM

Nick - Do you keep it up at Grand? That sounds like a pretty good deal. I have a buddy that has been thinking about a 30 baja, this might be the ticket for him.
Good luck!
Blaine

nick9671 09-18-2010 11:16 AM

yea Blaine I keep it up at Hammerhead Marina. I lived in okc 2 summers ago and had it out on draper a lot (scary I know) and down at texoma a few times. Its a solid boat man if your buddy would like a fountain.

rlj676 09-18-2010 12:45 PM

I think 25K feels pretty light.....maybe that's the wholesale value.

I think it also depends on the paint and colors. With quite a few Fountains out there the better looking ones will sell quicker.

Fountain4402 09-20-2010 03:10 PM

if the boat is in good shape 25 is light. But like others depends on the local economy and what someone wants to pay. I bought a 1991 for 26 engines were brand new though. 35-40 is probably about right. Again economy.

ryan450r 10-05-2010 12:20 PM

I've got a 1997, 27' with 502 I'm trying to get 30 for. Tough time of year for selling boats. I am willing to budge if someone shows me cash. 502 mag and desireable colors, white/blue/black. Super condition.

Not being a dick but the numbers on your boat are 12-14K ACV and 19-22K retail... in spring. Thats w/o a trailer. Add a g for a trailer both sides. The market is all but gone guys

Potomac Fever 10-05-2010 03:43 PM

where did you get these values from and for what years? curious??

liftedBFT 10-06-2010 11:11 AM

A 29 w/twins is a hard boat to sell. There was one near me with twin 500HPs that was going for $32k last spring. I think $30k would get people to respond.

Been in the biz almost 20 years. Was a dealer. I don't use any books on perf boats. Toomany variables. NADA etc are good for a 20 Sea Scout w/ an outboard or for cruisers when you need to get finance values

Potomac Fever 10-06-2010 03:14 PM

Thats what I thought...

So your arguing that these boats aren't worth what were asking and that NADA is yadda, yadda.. but then in the next post you say you don't use the books... :lolhit:

NADA is way off the market with all of their their boat pricing. Unless like you say it's just a small, low value, rec/fish boat. If you can find me a mint performance boat for NADA I will go buy it for CASH now because there would deffinately be profit to be made.

Also, find me a better deal on a mint Fountain like mine and maybe I will have my foot in my mouth. I don't think you'll find one though.

DollaBill 10-08-2010 09:05 AM

I don't really understand your post, but....

I'm just telling you the numbers. I had a problem with NADA about 10 years ago that cost me a sale on a $500,000 boat. I threatened to sue them. We settled and they put me on the pricing advisory board. Yes, the numbers are BS, but the banks use those numbers for financing. The banks are using more "street" numbers for perf boats.

nick9671 10-08-2010 10:26 AM

Well I will make someone a great deal on the boat, not interested in wholeselling it tho....

Potomac Fever 10-08-2010 02:22 PM

"The banks are using more "street" numbers for perf boats."

I have never heard of anything like this ever. Where does the bank get street #s from??

Good luck to you guys selling, I'll say again, the numbers I saw being posted as a values are low. Hopefully someone will recognize the value of your boat and be able to afford it, and make the purchase

Wildman_grafix 10-09-2010 03:51 PM

what is the street value of a bank repo, new 42 lightning with 525's and trailer? Say 2009/2008 model year?

From dealers, brokers, wholesalers and other people who are dealing with them "hands-on". The lenders have taken such a beating that after the years of inflated boats, deals, repo's missing power, identity theft, etc etc you think they are opening a book for numbers when someone wants a loan on a perf boat? The answer is NO. Like it or not.

I think its more likley than not a bank/lender will open a book, vs the street value approach. Thats my opinion and it differs from yours. And I have no data to prove that, and maybe that happens where you are from, and the price and value of the boats, but that definately has not been my or my friends experience. I'm not hear to argue, and the topic of this thread is 29 Fountain value, and I know of several that have been bought and sold for quite a bit more than 25k. My .02

Thats jus the way it's done lately. It's not my opinion, it's just a fact. Thats nationwide. I'm personal friends with many of the guys who run the finance companies. Not trying to argue or hurt the guys boat, but give some information. Even when things were "loose" it was diff with these boats
