42 Fountain

How fast would a 42 run with 600SCI's and Sporties?? It run over 90?

Thanks

It would be all over 90 but not much more for every day boating. my 42 with ron potter 600's ran just over 90 with me and very light on fuel......solid 85-86 on a regular day of boating.my 42 was a 99 with standard xr's.

1 person light fuel 06 runs 93-94. Solid 90+ all day. '06 with that exact setup

This boat is a Lightning not an Ex and is a 2007. Did you have any drive problems on your Ex? How many hours did you run it?

Its going to need better props than those Maximus 5 Blades.
Herrings will put that thing at 90 on a good day.

Hmm, maybe 1 or 2 less for the lightning??? I put about 100 hrs on that particular boat. Never had any drive problems and ran it hard in the ocean. All in the sticks

LuvMy47Ftn 09-30-2010 12:28 PM

curious? why 1-2 less for the lightning?

DollaBill 09-30-2010 12:51 PM

I think the LT is a tad heavier than the X. The hull is identical but the deck is diff

LuvMy47Ftn 09-30-2010 12:59 PM

Ok I knew the bottoms were the same just never thought about there being enough weight diff in the decks to make a diff.

more glass in the upper deck more stuff in the cabin..

Good to know. Shogren said 88-93. I bet it could get a mph or 2 without the generator.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

A couple years ago I was looking at a new 2005 with the same equipment as Shogren's 07 -loaded but less the generator. Performance report was 89 mph with standard low water pick-up bravos and 600 SCi's.

42 600 Boat, They're Nice!!!!

The generator will not really affect the speed. They are more affected by fuel capacity than gen weight becasue of where weight sits. 86-88 with 4 people and fuel at beginning of poker run, 88-93 with lighter load at end of poker run. It's a nice set up with good mid range acceleration.

Thanks Scott. Im assuming those 90+ number are with Herings and not the Maximus?? Even so I just happen to know someone that can bump these 600's up quite nicely!:D
