Well, I am a new face around here as well, but have been in the market for a month now. Been interested and researched them for years. Just never could afford it, till now. Seen every boat available, this one included. The only thing that concerns me is the whipple chargers on 502's. Were the chargers added aftermarket or from factory? How many hours? If aftermarket, you gotta wonder if the internals of the engine were upgraded at the same time. Too big for my needs! Good price though.

not sure.. the guy lives less then 30 minutes from me, so hopefully i can check it out this weekend! but i was just curious on what others thought of this set up ?

cagedlx 10-08-2010 05:07 PM

300 hours

Id try and go a little newer

johnlomant 10-08-2010 06:16 PM

I would not buy a side by side 42. No resale and way slower.

While it looks clean in my opinion the price is high for todays market. It shouldn't be but it is was it is. As some one else said that would be a tough boat to sell if you decide to get something else within a year or two.

I agree with Strip...look for a newer one.

You can get a side by side with the bigger cockpit layout...but this isnt one of them.

That boat has the big engine box. You could convert it to a stagger but thats going to cost a lot. If you like the big cockpit layout there are some side-by-side boats with the small engine box. The Whippled 502's look like they could have reliability issues. If you water test it make sure the gauges are happy at all different sustained speeds.

could this be a triple that was converted to a twin? I just picked '98 with side by side & love the huge cockpit, why would they make a side by side w/o the extended cockpit?

wow

IF
you are looking for a supercharged 42 Lightning

and you want a trailer

and you can buy it for 50 k

it does not seem to be that bad of a deal

of course you would need a good mech. inspection and survey.

fountainracing65 10-17-2010 10:45 PM

42 + side by side = ZERO RESALE

notda1 10-18-2010 07:48 AM

The supercharged bravos on anything but a lake or river would be a deal killer for me . Boats that break drives are only fun for a little while .

Ran-Dom 32 10-18-2010 01:26 PM

still seems like a lot of boat for 50K or less , 98 & up 42's have the big steps

cagedlx 10-18-2010 03:45 PM

so is 50k a good price... depending on the boat being in good shape???

and!! how fast??

cagedlx 11-17-2010 12:21 AM

? any guesses on speeds... he said low 90s high 80s

notda1 11-17-2010 07:53 AM

either take the wipples off and sell them or upgrade the drives
